* The Penguins clinched a playoff spot on April 9 by virtue of defeating the Devils in any fashion.

* Pittsburgh is set to make its first postseason appearance since 2022 and enters with an abundance of experience. The Penguins have five different Stanley Cup winners on their roster which is the second most of any Eastern Conference team behind only the Panthers (18) and Lightning (10).

* Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin each enter their franchise-leading 16th postseason. Crosby enters the 2026 playoffs tied with Jaromir Jagr (201) for the fifth-most playoff points in NHL history while Malkin (180) owns the fourth most by a player born outside of North America behind only Jari Kurri (233), Jagr (201) and Nicklas Lidstrom (183).

Sidney Crosby enters the 2026 Stanley Cup Playoffs two victories from becoming the fourth active player to record 100 postseason wins and would join Corey Perry (135), Ryan McDonagh (105) and Brad Marchand (100). Notably, Lightning defenseman Victor Hedman enters one away from joining that list, while his teammate Evgeni Malkin (96) could also hit 100 playoff victories should the Penguins advance to the Second Round.

* Kris Letang (23-67—90 in 147 GP) is two points from tying Bobby Orr (92 w/ BOS) for the eighth-most playoff points by a defenseman with a single franchise in NHL history and one assist from tying Duncan Keith for the seventh-most assists on that list.
