According to The Hollywood Reporter, Lion Rock Productions, the production company of director John Woo (Mission:Impossible 2) and his producing partner Terence Chang, will produce a remake of the late Sam Peckinpah's 1975 action flick The Killer Elite. Terry Cunningham will helm the remake, which John Jarrell (Romeo Must Die) is scripting. Jarrell will also pen an untitled piracy movie for Lion Rock and Phoenix Pictures.

The Killer Elite is widely considered to not be one of Bloody Sam's best pictures. The original film starred Godfather siblings James Caan and Robert Duvall as a pair of freelance hitmen in the employ of the CIA. When Caan is betrayed and left for dead by Duvall's character, he vows revenge and sets out to repair his broken body. The Killer Elite also featured a who's who of recognizable 1970's faces such as Bo Hopkins, Burt Young, Gig Young, and Mako. There's no word yet on when exactly The Killer Elite will return to the big screen.
