I am such of fan of the Golds Gym Brand and me and my wife were so excited… 🤩but I unfortunately didn’t the best experience at all and didn’t end up proceeding.
In fact probably one of the strangest and poorest experience I’ve ever had in Japan. “No tattoo rules culture” 🤯
Foreigners with tattoos, don’t even bother, even though they say tattoos needed to be covered, there is some rule about it being 15cm max, which I’ve seen in saunas but not so much a big issue when covered up in gyms. Not here tho. This lady was frothing the moment me and my wife walked in.
Upon sensing her lack of desire to let us in, The strange woman wanted to inspect that tattoo and measure it despite the fact I said it would be covered.
She pursued for me to take off my jacket and reach into my shirt to insert her ruler , so gross.
However she persisted and couldn’t hide her glee and even laughed while she saw my tattoo was cms over her ruler 😅 #powertrip
After accepting our fate and headed out, I took photo of the space to share my experience and she practically launched and demanded we delete the photos;
To which she claims #policy just like her tattoo joy was also policy, I refused giving her any more access and for her to further violate us in the way she already did with forcing me to show my tattoo.
I felt further uncomfortable as this unhinged lady blocked the door and refused to let us proceed to the exit. As she demanded we delete the photos. It was surreal.
I eventually realised she may have not wanted to have evidence of her poor treatment but I think it is for the greater good to warn others to avoid wasting your time and peace; or continue to enable this kind of treatment from these kind of bad eggs. Not the brand, but is the workers who represent the brand unfortunately.
I sincerely think the gym brand is a good one and have had awesome experiences at Golds, however It’s the people who represent the brand and “rules” that tends to ruin the whole experience because they are the ones who are lacking the r needing to exert some form of power? Perhaps ; 😁
Power to you if you are in the area and can cross smoothly without additional headaches, i personally thought their 10000jpy for two weeks was very reasonable. (Me and my wife @ 20000jpy)
However laughing (at vulnerabilities) and my tattoo; and additional harassment to make me try delete the evidence of her poor treatment is just not worth the headaches ever for anyone I reckon; especially those wishing to maintain a positive outlook of Japan and Sapporo. It only takes one bad experience unfortunately. However hope you have a better experience than I did.
