Since debuting strongly at Nagano 1998, Ukraine has rapidly risen to become a major competitor in winter sport, excelling in biathlon and cross-country skiing.
The Beijing 2022 Games showcased Ukraine's resilience and talent. Twenty athletes delivered the nation's best-ever performance, securing 11 gold, 10 silver, and eight bronze medals, finishing second overall. This surpassed their previous best of 27 medals from Sochi 2014.
Ukraine's strength is concentrated in nordic skiing; all 143 medals won have come from biathlon and cross-country.
Beijing 2022 featured numerous multi-medallists, including Oksana Shyshkova (five medals), Grygorii Vovchynskyi (five medals), Vitaliy Lukianenko (three medals), and Liudmyla Liashenko (three medals).
Vitaliy Lukyanenko stands as the most decorated male athlete with 16 medals, including eight gold, across six Games.
