Almaz Rumi assumes her duties as Mayor of Kobani

Almaz Rumi assumed her duties as Mayor of Kobani, in the presence of Deputy Mayor Muslim Abdul Ghani Muslim and members of the newly formed municipal executive council.

 Following a visit by a Kobani delegation to Aleppo Governorate a few days ago, Almaz Rumi was officially appointed Mayor of Kobani by Aleppo Governor Azzam Gharib. The appointment took place in the presence of a delegation from the Kobani administration and several political and technocratic figures, in accordance with the terms of the January 29 agreement between the Syrian Democratic Forces and the Syrian Interim Government, which stipulated the integration of civilian and military institutions within the Interim Government's institutions.

In the presence of a delegation from the Interim Government in Aleppo Governorate, members of the municipal executive council, and representatives from the Kobani administration, Almaz Rumi assumed her mayoral duties in Kobani, and Muslim Abdul Ghani Muslim was appointed as her deputy.

Following the handover ceremony, Kobani Mayor Almaz Rumi addressed the crowd in front of the People's Municipality building in Kobani, stating: "In accordance with the January 29th agreement, our institutions will be integrated with government institutions. Today, we began the process of merging Kobani's municipal institutions into the General People's Municipality. To this end, we held a meeting with the Governor of Aleppo two days ago, during which I was officially appointed Mayor of Kobani."

Rumi continued, "Today, I assumed my duties as Mayor of Kobani, and we formed the Kobani Municipal Executive Council so that we can provide the best possible services to our people as one team."

In closing, the Mayor pledged, "We will present a better and more beautiful image, and we will always be at the service of our people, fulfilling all their needs."

The council members are Mahmoud Rumi, Othman Mustafa Muhammad, Yara Bozan Abdi, Narin Boz, and Ahmed Muhammad Sheikho.
