I see a tendency among some fans to refer to one or a few specific people as the “creators” of a work. Is this really okay?
Of course, if you’re talking about something where it really is entirely made by one person, then I guess calling them the “creator” would make sense. However, I feel that when it comes to big productions like feature-length movies and / or video games, designating just one person as the “creator” seems inappropriate. The credits sequence makes it pretty evident that lots of people worked to create the work, not just one person.
I guess what irks me is that there often ends up misplacing the responsibility of parts about the work on someone that didn’t really have anything to do with that part. Thus, it comes off as spreading misinformation, and I’m getting pretty sick of misinformation these days.
…But there’s not much I can do about it, is there?
