Beating A Dead Horse

Description

Did you ever wonder why MLP:FiM had such a terrible ending?

Did you ever wonder why it felt so off, like it didn't fit in with the rest of the show? Almost like it was a hoax, a bad fanfic, or purposefully bad?

Well, wonder no more! Go behind the scenes as we explore how, exactly, the magic of friendship was killed.

Now, a disclaimer.

I know how some people are going to react to this, just from reading that little blurb up there, and from reading just the first page. I know how it makes me look bitter, like I can't let things go, like I'm just, haha, beating a dead horse (the name I chose for this is appropriate for more than one reason). And if your first reaction is to roll your eyes and close the browser tab, all I want to ask is that you give it a chance. At the very least, check out chapter two. It lays things out in a way that I think will grab your interest.

So come on, and let's go beat this dead horse.

Here is a link to the PDF on Mega, as well.

gonna be real as someone who hates the ending and dislikes a good chunk of s9, i dont think this document proves anything at all. you ramble way too much, and youre contorting things to suit your point.

for example did you even consider that maybe guardians of harmony failed because it couldnt decide if it was for children or for bronies? especially when you look at the lineup and can see rarity never got anything- something any child or adult collector who liked her would take issue with?

fluttershy's only normal variant was sdcc exclusive, too. don't you think potential customers would lose interest in a series where they cant even have a complete set of the mane six? or how about the fact a shadowbolt was chosen as a figure over say...a posable princess luna/nightmare moon or celestia? can we really say any kids who liked guardians of harmony would want a stationary statue of starlight and trixie over them getting posable figures?

or how it might not appeal to kids if they prefer the brushable ponies to action figures? speaking from experience as someone who was a child when g4 was launched, most children were playing with the brushables. if you were watching anyone in the intended audience playing with the toys on youtube like mlpstopmotion, it was the brushables and largely the non articulated ones at that.

thats just the main take that took me out of this (besides the rambling in general): its abundantly clear why goh failed as a toyline if you actually look into it from any lens other than "SEE?! THIS IS THE WORK OF THE PEOPLE WHO WANTED TO KILL THE SHOW!" or maybe, just maybe any kids who wanted a discord toy wanted him as a brushable or at the bare minimum not a sdcc exclusive many of them wouldnt be able to get that also cant be played with much compared to say, his funko figures which arent forced into a sitting pose

for a doc that mocks the idea of g5 having real fans, g5's fans actually wrote a compelling document speculating what went wrong behind the scenes 🤨👎
