How to make npcs easiest way + prefab guide

Guide

(video version: https://youtu.be/rqT0oTQNIwg)

FOR CRABLETS N SHIT GO HERE: https://mod.io/g/bonelab/r/npcs-guide-crablets-and-null-dudes

DO THIS GUIDE FIRST THO JUST TO GET FAMILIAR WITH NPCS

ok so you want a 3d model as an npc in bonelab...

to do that you need extended sdk ofcourse and a little gift from me since theres absolutely no chance you're making one from scratch

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1f7qOIf-z7ss29qZhTmco1xkHd3EID2lW/view?usp=sharing

THAT, is the goob man npc i made that is probably maybe fine to add here but i wouldnt know im not a lawyer

doesnt matter, get that unitypackage and import it into your project.

go to this folder to find the prefab itself, copy it with CTRL + D so there wont be any conflicts.

now open it up

put your model inside of it and scale and move your model's bones to be about in the same positions as the goob man, like this

now take YOUR model's bones and put them to their equivelant ones under "Physics"

as shown here (the mixamo bones are of the model thats being put on the npc in this case):

after that if your model is a bit funky like the one i showed here as the example you can edit the collision a bit but remember, DONT MOVE THE BODY PARTS, EVER. ONLY EVER EDIT THE COLLIDERS cuz otherwise ur npc WILL break. good time to mention to also make frequent backups.

after you have all that good stuff set up, time to DELETE THE GOOB MAN.

now you shouldnt ACTUALLY delete him as far as i know, since theres some stuff on his bones thats maybe probably important? i wouldnt risk it

to do that select all of the model parts of the goob man

and with all of them selected, disable the "skinned mesh renderer" component thing

you can also delete the materials if you feel like it, it seems to reduce file size quite a bit so why not ig

and now youre left with just your model, standing in a ford pose... well youre pretty much done just remember to tick update when offscreen on your model and you can just plop it into bonelab and it will... function? probably i really have no idea!

BUT

if youre smart you might have noticed that i didnt show any sound changing, well ill show it now for those who DONT want their npc to say weird shit

also remember to change the footstep sfx as shown here:

click on the "behaviourpowerlegs" object thats under "airig"

scroll down until you find face anim. click on it to show all the good stuff, it will open up a thingy where you can add all your sounds

put your sounds here or delete them if you feel like it

you can also change the npc's health in behaviourlegs since in the goob man i set it to 10 but the default for ford is 5 iirc

its the max hitpoints thing

NOW YOU HAVE A MAYBE PROBABLY WORKING NPC! YIPEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

im quitting all things bonelab so only dm when its very important pls

comments disabled cuz theyre annoying, literally 1984
