Magic Abolitionism, also known as Muggle Supremacy (in the context of Harry Potter) or Wizarding Abolitionism, is opposition to magic in most/all of its forms. It is a relatively old ideology, dating back to 1000 BC(E) and earlier. It originated as the persecution of witches and magicals, with these practices continuing into the Dark Ages. Nowadays, this ideology manifests as electrical chauvinism, religious fundamentalism, and positive atheism.

    Old-Time Magic Abolitionism

Magic Abolitionism before the Enlightenment was mainly done for religious reasons. This would involve witch burning and threats, such as the fear of eternity in hell for magicals. It originated as early as 1000 BCE and maybe earlier, when the witches in Ancient Israel were persecuted for their magical aptitude. This attitude towards magical ideology continued well into the Dark Ages in Europe, when witches were routinely burned.

    Modern Magic Abolitionism

Magic Abolitionism in the modern day retains elements from its pre-Enlightenment form, such as an emphasis on religion. This is a position usually held by Christian fundamentalists. The majority of modern magic abolition is pushed by conventional scientists. It is now labeled as mythical and impossible by conventional standards; the old-fashioned magic abolitionists hated it for religious or moral reasons. As with all ideologies, extreme variants may surface, which would bring back witch burning in an effort to abolish spirituality and non-materialism entirely. Modern anti-magical sentiment is put out by the conventional science establishment, saying it contradicts founded laws such as the 2nd Law of Thermodynamics.
