I woke the next morning before anyone else. After dressing and doing my business away from camp, I set up the stove to make breakfast and coffee.
“Hey,” Jolie said, sitting down to join me.
She was in jeans and a T-shirt and had brushed out her hair. She looked nice.
“Is Amber mad at me?” I asked, handing her a cup of freshly brewed coffee.
Jolie shrugged. “Yeah. But mostly she thinks you’re chicken.” She took a sip of coffee and smiled. “So do I. But good coffee.”
I wasn’t sure what to say to that, so I didn’t say anything at all.
