uses 驕傲 as a noun here. It is not
easy to translate it into English
with all the implications we may
think in Chinese. I am okay with
this translation, but it is just not
exactly the same. On the other
hand, his mom was never 100%
the "typical 20th Century Asian
mom/woman" so it's okay to have
this moment 😏

bright face to literally everyone they
meet even the uber driver

Try NOT achieving - they will hide
you in shame and deny that you
even exist. Huge difference.
