𝟏𝟗𝟗𝟕 — 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐂𝐇𝐈𝐂𝐀𝐆𝐎 𝐁𝐔𝐋𝐋𝐒 𝐏𝐋𝐀𝐘𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐀𝐓 𝐀𝐋𝐋𝐄𝐍 𝐅𝐈𝐄𝐋𝐃𝐇𝐎𝐔𝐒𝐄
Held just weeks before the Bulls’ final championship run, the game drew fans from across the country to one of college basketball’s most storied venues.
The matchup was made possible largely through Roy Williams, then Kansas’ head coach, whose long-standing relationship with Jordan dated back to his time as an assistant at North Carolina, where he helped recruit him.
At the time, NBA teams occasionally scheduled preseason games in non-NBA cities to broaden their national footprint.
Williams’ influence, the Bulls’ willingness to play in a historic setting, and Kansas’ deep basketball tradition converged to bring a rare NBA moment to Lawrence.
“[Michael Jordan] played hard and played a lot of minutes. He didn’t go through the motions. He was into the game and did the things you’d expect Michael Jordan to do.” — 𝐑𝐲𝐚𝐧 𝐑𝐨𝐛𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐬𝐨𝐧, former KU basketball player
“Normally, guys of that stature don’t play that much (27mins)… it speaks to who he is.” — 𝐁𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐓𝐡𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐬, former KU basketball player

Saw it live. Was more impressed by Jordan’s defense than anything. Such an unspoken and incredible skill he had.

There is no chance LeBron would participate in this if he can't even handle all 82 regular season games.
