Juniors
There are six Junior events at The Championships: Boys' Singles, Girls' Singles, Boys' Doubles, Girls' Doubles, as well as an invitational 14&U Singles draw for both Boys and Girls.
In 2023, the Junior Boys’ and Girls’ Singles commenced on Saturday 8 July and progressed throughout the second week, with finals taking place over Finals weekend.
Junior Boys and Girls players are aged between 14 and 18 and come from all over the world to compete in the Junior Championships. Although they don’t receive prize money, they do receive ranking points that count towards their international junior ranking. If you have some spare time do wander around the outside courts and see these future stars in action, the standard of tennis is not far short of the professionals.
Many of today’s main draw players once competed at Junior Wimbledon, but very few have won both the junior singles and the main singles titles. These are:
Bjorn Borg (1972)
Pat Cash (1982)
Stefan Edberg (1983)
Roger Federer (1998)
Ann Jones (1956)
Karen Hantze (1960)
Martina Hingis (1994)
Amelie Mauresmo (1996)
Ash Barty (2011)
Iga Swiatek (2018)
Stefan Edberg remains the only player to have completed the ‘Junior Grand Slam’ by winning the junior event at all four Grand Slams.
Junior Qualifying
Junior qualifying takes place at the Wimbledon Qualifying and Community Sports Centre, Roehampton.
14&U Championships
First introduced at The Championships in 2022, the 14&U Invitation draw is a round-robin singles event with four groups of four players, guaranteeing at least three matches per player. First place in each group progresses to the knockout semi-finals and final matches. Consolation matches are also played for those who do not reach the semi-finals.
