Wow… what a start to 2026 👀

It was actaully a very tough month and a tricky start with abandonments and weather causing plenty of disruption to selections, but we still finished well in the green — and then some.

No fewer than 7 Accas landed in fairly quick succession mid month, at average odds of around 16/1, proving once again that when we win, we win big. January was another perfect example of that.

We also kicked off the month with a 30/1 double at Southwell on the 4th, meaning this is now the FIFTH consecutive month we’ve started with a double — an incredible run of consistency.

Sea Legend Saga— a proper “bastard horse” as we know — but has gone in since this month at 9/4 - Big Shame but almost a relief - May catch again at a price no firing.

A cracking January for big prices and Accas, and another SOLID month added to the books.

February has started a little rickety at -8, but this service always responds with big wins — and we’ll be looking to do exactly that again.

🐎 Djelo – 18/1 (William Hill)

🏇 Race Overview

A tight renewal with three obvious market leaders, but with good ground likely, this King George could be set up for a shake-up — and that’s where the value lies.

Fact Or File may struggle to show his best at Kempton on this surface. His only run on genuinely quicker ground (officially good-to-soft) produced a modest speed figure, and while he beat Gentlemansgame by 5 lengths, that form looks overrated given the conditions. His hard-fought lossover Gaelic Warrior last time came on heavy ground — very different to what he’ll face here.

Gaelic Warrior is a serious horse, but Kempton is not his kind of track, and at the prices there’s no value. You can realistically blanket him and Fact Or File on their last run — if the track and pace don’t suit, both could be vulnerable. Also only beat GA LAW by 5 lengths when they met on Goodisb ground over the trip.

Jango Bai is the obvious danger and the most likely winner. He’s unexposed at the trip, gets conditions, and brings top-end speed. If he stays 3m, he’ll be very hard to beat.

💡 The Value Angle – Djelo

The value play is Djelo.

Yes, he has ground to make up on ratings but has improved in recent spins and Venetia Williams’ yard is beginning to fire, good ground is a big plus. His Wetherby Boxing Day win last year — beating Pic D’Orhy — was a serious performance at a tight track. He wasn’t off the bridle until the last, clipped a fence, and still powered home, recording a strong speed figure which a track like Kempton can suit. Has run well around Huntingdon, Aintree, Exeter and Newbury so is adapatable.

That day he finished 22 lengths ahead of Ga Law, who has since been far more competitive against some of today’s rivals. More recently, Djelo had Hitman well beaten and beat Edwardstone 4 lengths on soft — suggesting he may actually be better on good.

At 18/1, in a race dominated by the “big three”, he looks overpriced and very capable of sneaking into the frame — or better if the principals underperform.

⚠️ Others to Note

• Banbridge – Visor on and Sean Bowen booked suggests connections are rolling the dice. Could easily nick 3rd at a price.

🧠 Verdict

Jango Bai is the most likely winner if staying the trip, but if this turns into a speed-influenced King George rather than a slog, Djelo has the profile to outperform his odds and hit the frame and dare I say it, WIN!

🏇 Race Overview

A Class 5 handicap over 1 mile, and this looks a very workable setup for Eligible, a proven C&D specialist who can go well fresh. The booking of Jo Mason straight off the break signals intent, and he arrives here on a very workable mark of 69 with a plum draw to exploit.

He was in decent form before his break and is well handicapped on past efforts. His standout performance came when beating Star Zinc here off a mark of 82, recording a top speed figure of 82 in the process — form that towers over much of today’s opposition. He also has several other runs at this track that rate highly on the clock.

With little obvious pace in the race, Eligible could be allowed to dictate matters from the front, which plays perfectly to his strengths — especially with several rivals stepping up in trip and potentially lacking tactical speed.

⚠️ Dangers

King David (NB) – The most likely challenger; solid profile and capable of getting involved if things fall right.
One More One – Has ability and could be competitive and can be thereabouts today.
Ashen – Interesting new recruit for Jim Goldie with some upside, but not the percentage play on debut for the yard.

🧠 Verdict

Course specialist, well treated, ideal draw, and likely pace advantage — Eligible looks set for a bold front-running display and rates a strong win play.
