Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi visited Arlington National Cemetery near Washington, where hundreds of thousands of US military veterans are buried, NHK reports.

She laid flowers after the national anthems of Japan and the United States were played.

It is worth noting that Charles Sweeney — the US Air Force pilot who participated in both atomic bombings of Japan in 1945 — is also buried there.
