For the Summer Games, athletes representing Morocco first competed at the Games of the XVII Olympiad Rome 1960, taking part there in the sports or disciplines of artistic gymnastics, athletics, boxing, road cycling, fencing, modern pentathlon, sailing, shooting, weightlifting and wrestling. At the Games of the XVII Olympiad Rome 1960, Rhadi Ben Abdesselam became the first athlete representing Morocco to win an Olympic medal of any colour, capturing silver in the men’s athletics marathon event. At the Games of the XXIII Olympiad Los Angeles 1984, Nawal El Moutawakel became the first athlete representing Morocco to win an Olympic gold medal, competing in the women’s athletics 400 metres hurdles event. For the Winter Games, athletes representing Morocco first competed at the X Olympic Winter Games Grenoble 1968, taking part there in the discipline of alpine skiing. No athlete representing Morocco has yet won an Olympic Winter Games medal of any colour.

At Beijing 2022, Morocco was represented by one athlete in Alpine skiing. Competing at his first Winter Games, Yassine Aouich started the men's giant slalom, but did not finish the event.
