This bothers me. I have no idea why Vecna was brought over or Fizban or Mordenkainen. The Realms has plenty of its own to use. In fact, I really don’t like the universes being shared.
I find it the height of comedy that some people push the "superiority" of the FR setting and yet when I google Greyhawk lore...I find tons of links to Greyhawk specific gods, demigods, heroes, etc. on the Forgotten Realms wiki. Then when I go look...yep, those characters, written into the FR.

Okay, it's objectively the better setting but you have to poach characters and personae from Greyhawk.

I would love that. There was more to say, left undone.
As for why the "TSR Worlds" were linked, it was to provide marketing support for whichever setting the company had to temporarily neglect because they lacked the resources to pump out full lines for everything.
