Our crew members, along with Mayor Rector, were on hand Tuesday at The Landmark retirement home on McMullen Booth Road to help Bill Monfort celebrate his 108th birthday. He was a chief petty officer and radio operator in the U.S. Navy and was present at Pearl Harbor and served during World War II. He is the oldest living veteran in Florida. He has met four presidents during his life, and he was good friends with President Carter as he grew up in the same area of Georgia as the former president.
