Learning with an LLM on your side is so very powerful.. I always appreciated and wished for access to experienced, really talented, and knowledgeable engineers.. Now imagine you learn and have the ability to ask a polymath engineer any question you want, at any time you want, and they will never get tired of answering with infinite amount of patience.. That's a really big deal in terms of learning.. Just provide some context, ask your question, and learn from the answer. Still confused? Ask follow-up question/s? Still don't understand? Ask to generate some visual examples. Ask for diagrams. Still don't understand? Ask for references or discussions on the internet related to your questions.. But, remember, this also raises the bar in terms of what's expected from you and how fast you can learn.. As you do your best, and use your best LLMs/tools for learning, others do that too..

Recently, I worked on building the backend for a Car Marketplace App using Software Engineering principles and Agile methodology. The project workflow was designed by my colleague Dina Almasri, who handled the scenario analysis to define how sellers and buyers interact. 🟣Sellers automatically get a profile where they can list cars with full details, upload images, receive ratings, and track monthly sales through interactive charts. 🟠Buyers can search cars by location, view detailed listings, create orders, pay securely via Stripe, and contact sellers directly via WhatsApp. Both sellers and buyers can securely log in, and if they forget their password, they can reset it via OTP. 𝗡𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 + 𝗟𝗼𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗗𝗮𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗮𝘀𝗲: 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝗩𝗩𝗠 𝗪𝗮𝘆 🌐 Day 12 of my MVVM journey, and we're tackling the holy grail of Android development - 𝗯𝘂𝗹𝗹𝗲𝘁𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗼𝗳 𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗮 𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲! 𝗠𝘆 𝗗𝗮𝘁𝗮 𝗟𝗮𝘆𝗲𝗿 𝗛𝗼𝗿𝗿𝗼𝗿 𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆: One year ago, I was making network calls directly in Activities, saving data in random background threads, and my apps fell apart the moment users lost internet connection. In most social media platforms (like Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook), when users upload profile pictures, the app must ensure that the images: ✅ Load fast on all devices (mobile, web, tablet) ✅ Are optimized in size and quality ✅ Are stored securely and reliably I designed a 𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐢 𝐜𝐥𝐨𝐮𝐝-𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐬𝐲𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐦 𝐨𝐧 𝐀𝐖𝐒 to simulate this process. Here's how it works step-by-step: 𝐒𝐭𝐞𝐩 𝟏: 𝐅𝐢𝐥𝐞 𝐔𝐩𝐥𝐨𝐚𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐒𝟑 The user uploads their profile image to an S3 bucket called raw-profile-images. ✅ S3 ensures the image is safely stored with high availability and durability. ✅ No need to worry about storage limits. 𝐒𝐭𝐞𝐩 𝟐: 𝐀𝐮𝐭𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐜 𝐓𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐠𝐞𝐫 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐒𝟑 + 𝐋𝐚𝐦𝐛𝐝𝐚 An S3 event notification is set up so that whenever a new image is uploaded, it automatically triggers an AWS Lambda function. ✅ No need for servers—event-driven and real-time. ✅ Lambda scales automatically. 𝐒𝐭𝐞𝐩 𝟑: 𝐈𝐦𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐋𝐚𝐦𝐛𝐝𝐚 The Lambda function uses libraries like Pillow (Python) or Sharp (Node.js) to: Resize the image into multiple sizes (thumbnail, medium, large) Compress or optimize images for web delivery (reduce file size) Convert formats if needed (JPEG → WebP/PNG) ✅ The result: Images that are fast to load and optimized for different devices. 𝐒𝐭𝐞𝐩 𝟒: 𝐒𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐈𝐦𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐒𝟑 The processed versions are stored in a second S3 bucket like processed-profile-images. ✅ Easy integration with CDN (like CloudFront) for global delivery. ✅ Access control via IAM roles & bucket policies. 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐯𝐲 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐄𝐂𝟐 (𝐀𝐝𝐯𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐝) 𝐎𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐒𝐭𝐞𝐩 𝟓: For more resource-intensive tasks (like face detection, background removal, AI filters): The Lambda function can hand off the job to an EC2 instance with higher CPU/GPU capacity. Process the images and store the result back in S3. This ensures cost efficiency—using EC2 only when truly needed. When I first started creating content, my main goal was to shed light on mobile development all over Lebanon, and Android in particular, as a powerful and often overlooked career path. While most people naturally lean toward web development, I knew there was a huge opportunity in mobile that many weren't seeing. So, I set out to change that. That’s why I launched my “Become an Android Developer” course, a complete guide to help anyone kick off their Android career. Hi everyone! For our Social Computing course by Dániel S., my teammates Sillah Babar, Hamda Zahir, Serena Seif, and I worked together on a creative addition to GitHub feature introducing a "𝗦𝗸𝗶𝗹𝗹-𝗕𝗮𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗧𝗮𝘀𝗸 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗲𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲!".  The idea is simple yet impactful: Based on a user’s listed skills (e.g., Python and their proficiency level), GitHub can recommend tasks or repositories tailored to help them practice, collaborate, and grow in real time.  📹 Attached is our paper prototype video, showcasing how this feature could work within GitHub.
