Never heard of stereotypes for a whole island group - but some islands might have things they are known for like guns for Crete or sayings like “crazy as a Kefalonian” or “Melians are assholes”
(Ok the last one is mine best on my holidays on Melos)
Crete is not left-wing/liberal, despite the island voting "left" in parliamentary elections. They're probably one of the most conservative parts of the country.
It is written Λέσβος in Greek. There was a change in β pronunciation between the centuries, and the word in modern Greek is pronounced Lesvos these days. That's why both romanizations of the name of the island exist.
I’d like to know which of these islands are the best for tourism. I live in Ireland and Ryanair has regular flights to Corfu, Kos, Rhodes, Zakynthos, Santorini and Mykonos, but it would be nice to check other options.
Crete is mainland now
So is the big Island next to athens (forgot its name)
Euboea is the name
Eubea?
Crete is separate.
(a different colour, on its own, may make more sense).
Is the culture on the islands comparable to culture on the mainland?
Are there fun stereotypes within Greece for people living in different islands/island groups?

some obvious ones,
Hydra/Spetses: war of independence, mythology.
Crete: "Greek Texas" guns/vendettas/proud, left-wing/liberal.
Ionia/Ionians/7 islands: multi-cultural, posh.
Kyklades: arrogant, money-loving.
Ikaria: (actually Ιθάκη, lol) Odysseas, chill.
Patmos: Apocalypse, "ultra Orthodox".
Rhodos: spoiled, lol.
Karpathos: women superiority.
Huh I've never heard of the 'ionians are posh' stereotype, only that we're multicultural and scrooges
Indeed, Crete has a shitload of firearms by EU standards.

Lesvos is also known as Lesbos, and its inhabitants are called lesbians.
It’s where the word lesbian came from to begin with - Sappho was from there

As someone who loves studying Koine, the V in modern Greek is so damn weird and uncanny.
One of the most beautiful areas on Earth

Kos is so random compared to the other options
"Hey, Aesclepius, I'm heading out to Dodeca."
"Dodeca? Don't you mean the Dodecanese?"
"Dodeca-NEEZ NUTS! Hah, go-"
immediately gets struck down by Zeus
That's a lot of islands close to turkey
No idea why you're being downvoted - I had no idea just how close many Greek islands are to mainland Turkey vs mainland Greece
What's the name for the light green group?
Greek mainland (and Crete).
Notice how they're closer to Turkey than to Greece LMAO, just an observation.
Are the Canary Islands Moroccan by your logic?
BREAKING: Redditor finds out borders exist.
A territory of Greece is closer to Turkey than to Greece
Smartest Redditor here 🤦♀️

Turkish goverment has reasons to claim some of these islands tbh they're dangerously pushing Turkey to the coast
USA has reasons to claim Canada because it's close to them
Mainland Greece has been dangerously pushing towards Constantinople for nearly two centuries now. Who will stop those monstrous monsters?!
Turkish govt has no valid reasons to claim islands that were never theirs to begin with.
In fact, they are forcing Greece to abide by a 6 nautical mile border, instead of the internationally legal 12 one, by threating war.
Stop being a turkish imperialist war machine troll...
Turkey is a genocidal enthnostate
