Iran's Deputy FM Lashes Out at IAEA Head's Conduct
Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs Kazem Qaribabadi warned that International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director General Rafael Grossi's “biased and destructive” remarks on Tehran's nuclear program make the situation worse.
“The Islamic Republic of Iran strongly objects to the biased and passive remarks by the Director General of the nuclear agency and issues a serious warning regarding them,” he wrote on X.“Mr. Grossi has so far done nothing useful regarding Iran; on the contrary, from time to time, with his destructive comments, he only makes the situation worse,” Qaribabadi stated.
Grossi has recently stated that the US-Israeli current onslaught on Iran alone could end the country’s nuclear program. He added that only a catastrophic nuclear war could destroy the country’s capabilities “in an unfathomable way, which we hope, of course, will never be the case".According to the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI), a projectile struck the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant on Tuesday, marking an alarming escalation in the US-Israeli war against Iran’s civilian infrastructure. The latest incident follows a previous attack on the plant on March 5, raising significant concerns over the dire consequences of such a criminal action.
The deputy foreign minister described the comments as "unprofessional and destructive".The Iranian diplomat also wondered whether Grossi is the head of an international organization or “a media analyst”.Noting that Grossi has so far failed to condemn US-Israeli strikes on Iran’s peaceful nuclear facilities, including the two recent raids on the site of Bushehr nuclear power plant, Qaribabadi stressed, “Instead of issuing serious warnings about the consequences of war on Iran’s safeguarded nuclear program or any use of destructive and illegal weapons, he is pointing out ways to destroy Iran’s legitimate and legal nuclear activities.”
