Euthanasia gang rape victim's defiant message to dad before ending life
Noelia Castillo Ramos, 25, had sought to have ended her life via assisted dying but was blocked by her dad, leading to a lengthy legal battle that lasted 18 months
A gang rape victim made a defiant and heart-breaking message to her dad before she died via euthanasia.
Noelia Castillo Ramos was sexually assaulted multiple times, the last being by three males in 2022. The 25-year-old, from Barcelona, attempted to end her life days later by jumping from the fifth floor of a building.
But she survived, and was left paralysed from the waist down - leading her to struggle to walk for prolonged periods of time. She suffered from severe chronic and incapacitating pain with no possibility of improvement.
She spent many years of her childhood in and out of care and reportedly took a series of overdoses in a bid to end her own life. Noelia had been in a psychiatric treatment since the age of 13 after her parents split, and is said to have suffered from borderline personality disorder and obsessive-compulsive disorder with paranoia and suicidal ideation.

Her father had seen her fall from the building in 2022.
"My father saw me fall and couldn't do anything. But after everything he's done, I don't feel sorry for him anymore," she told Y Ahora Sonsoles, referencing his legal challenge to stop her euthanasia. "He hasn't respected my decision and he never will."
Noelia's request for euthanasia was granted by a committee in Catalonia in July 2024, with the procedure scheduled to happen on August 2 that year. Her father, Geronimo Castillo, attempted to block the request, supported by the ultra-conservative advocacy group Abogados Cristianos or Christian Lawyers.
But Noelia was approved to die via euthanasia and ultimately passed on March 26. She previously said: "I've finally done it.
"Let's see if I can finally rest because I can't take this family anymore, the pain, everything that torments me from what I've been through." Her euthanasia was scheduled for 6pm Spanish time (5pm UK time). Noelia said she had been "very clear" about her wish to die from the beginning.
Noelia's mum Yolanda Ramos spent last night with her at Sant Camil Hospital before the procedure designed to "ensure a death without suffering." Her father Geronimo was among other relatives including her siblings and maternal grandmother who arrived at the hospital to spend time with her earlier today.
