HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The two-story floating structure built by homeless people was taken down by the state Wednesday.
The structure was moored at Keehi Lagoon Park after the recent Kona lows.
The Hawaii Department of Transportation told Hawaii News Now that a notice was posted on Monday.
The state said crews began clearing the inside on Tuesday, and removal of the structure from airport property was completed Wednesday.
Last month, the structure was on the edge of the Keehi Stream, surrounded by other makeshift structures.
The City and County of Honolulu’s director of Homeless Solutions, Roy Miyahira, was concerned about sanitation and safety.
