Response to a serious bullying incident at our university's affiliated elementary school

There have been reports in the media about the response to a serious bullying incident that occurred at the elementary school attached to the Faculty of Education of our university (hereinafter referred to as the elementary school). We believe that many people who have seen the reports have become anxious and concerned about the situation at the elementary school and the university.
It is true that the attached elementary school and the Faculty of Education, as mentioned in the article, lacked awareness of various systems, such as the Act on Promotion of Measures to Prevent Bullying, which resulted in delays in individual reporting of serious incidents to the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, and incorrect explanations given to the parents of the victimized children regarding the reporting situation. The attached elementary school and the Faculty of Education have apologized to the victimized children and their parents for these matters.
Furthermore, we believe that these events are due to serious governance issues, and as the organization that established the system, we will promptly establish a third-party investigation committee to objectively understand the situation and take steps to prevent recurrence.
At the affiliated elementary school, the care of the children has always been our number one priority, and the entire school has always worked together to provide educational care. We will continue to do our utmost to care for all of our children.
Furthermore, the corporation will make a sincere effort to improve governance issues related to the operation of the affiliated schools so that all infants, children, students, and parents of the affiliated schools of the Faculty of Education can feel at ease.
