The most exhausting thing about the HP handwringing is the IT IS SO IMPORTANT TO PEOPLE
I went to every movie opening night. I waited in line for the books. I was 10 when the first movie hit, I grew up with it.
And I threw it all out because that woman hates me and those like me. It's that easy.
Everyone going "oh but it saved my life" or "it was fundamental to my childhood" or "I wanted to share it with my kids"
Do you think trans people grew up in bubbles? You think we all just never engaged with one of the biggest pop culture series of the 21st century?
We did it. So can anyone.
I'm cis, but there are trans people in my life who I care about, so I put in the work to let the damn thing go. I either threw stuff out or put it in storage.
I was 11 years old, about to enter secondary school when the first book got its initial paperback run and my mum gave me a copy.

I co-founded a god damn Severus Snape deviantART fanclub, if you want to know my cringe credentials. 😅
My real life trans friends don't need to suffer even more because I'm sad my childhood got shit on. Nobody should be denied life-saving care for that. Nobody.
