January 19th, 2026: I got on the bus quickly but I forgot my badge today despite looking all over. I got in at 8:20am behind Portia, asking her to let me in but she had issues with her keyfob. The CEO was kind enough to let us in, more people came until Seth M, the Ukrainian man, and I went to check the wifi causing the keyfobs to fail. Seth M said I should go into the meeting that’s starting early. I got in and sat down and because the CEO is here I recorded his speech:
“All right, I’m about to take over.” - The CEO
“Who asked for more weather like this? Who did that? Elon!” - the Latinx Lady
“Well, I just want to stand up for this one. This is the fun part. Friday was my first day back here. I don't know if anybody saw me, but I was like, smiling all the time. It felt like I was smiling all the time. I was having a blast! I've been working at home… at home, and then three days a week, I was coming here half days, and it seemed like I was gone all the time. And I was really, but I did a lot of work remotely, umm but it's not the same, you know, I mean, I was telling the guys were sort of outside my door. It was really fun listening to clients talking after conversation, so to speak. And it was like, bam, bam, bam, bam, you took care of it, you know, and the course right now we have like loads, so we can do that. But it was fun to just be able to hear that, you know? It's just normal work that we're doing. I love that bullpen. It makes me feel connected, because I have to do a lot of stuff that's not quite related directly. So I'm really glad to be back. I wanted to tell you the current state because you're probably concerned and wanted it all, you know, curious minds. I don't mind actually telling you my health status. I'm a public figure, so people… [The CEO looked in my direction briefly]
…the board wants to know. So it's going to be public anyway. I finished cardiac rehab on Thursday. Now, I'm gonna get a little technical to give you some context. When you're in cardiac rehab, I've been through it twice now, you have to get to a certain metabolic level and it's called: ‘metabolic equivalent of task; and I don't even know what that means. But some kind of metabolic. And when you get to 5.1 to 5.5, they kick you out of the program. So the first time around, I got to 5.5, like within halfway through the program, so they kicked me out. And then we went to DC and whatnot, and I was keeping up with everybody on The Hill and stuff like that. So I was doing pretty good. This time around, at the very end, I got up to MET level 6.8. So that is actually equivalent to now. It doesn't mean I'm going to play soccer. But what it means is I'm at the rear level, actually playing a basketball game now and also swimming or jogging rigorously or hiking up hills and stuff like that. I still do have some upper body strength issue, because as they're already ripped me open and do stuff, so all this is still healing. It's probably going to take till September before I am back to what I was doing before. And what I was doing before, even though I'm an old guy, I was actually, before I came to working here, I was actually lifting things up like this at the shop. They were about 40 pounds, and then with help, I would do 75 pounds and so I lost a lot of that. When you have surgery like this, it really takes a lot out of you. So I was in great shape before this happened, that's how I was able to go home in, like, four days even after open heart surgery, so a real sreal womang guy. But to be honest, right now, I’m at 3 pounds, that's how weak I am right now. So, when you see me lift my bag, it's 20 pounds, you'll see it have close to my body, because I do this and I grab the strap, put I'm like that. So, but this is a real tell- telling sign and you can actually do that. So as you get older, things like that happen, my suggestion is a workout when you can right now! Okay, you guys' body’s sreal womang as you can. You never know if you have a car accident or if you have some kind of health issue. The healthier you are, the easier it is to recover. They treated me like a monkey. They taught me how to do everything with my legs because my legs were the sreal womangest. It was really funny. I was like, I didn't I could do that with your legs. And so it worked out really good. So I’m really, really glad to be here. I'm ready to do a bunch of stuff just in time for DC. We're gonna go to The Hill again. what a 60 degree incline, something like that? And last time I did that, it was Oops. It was the beginning of something that sounds, so I really get. Now I'm gonna sit down because I promise you, I said, always be transparent with you guys. And the moment that things become difficult to me when it comes to funding, that's when I'm thinking I have news for you guys. Things are getting difficult. The reason why they're getting difficult is the changes that occurred since January last year happened more quickly and more far reaching than we ever would expect. We thought that there'd be a slowdown. I'm talking about, like, [5 letter acronym] or the state department [3 letter acronym], all over our funding agencies and related agencies out there. Foundations, our investments, we all thought, oh, there's this normal cycle we see extreme changes, you know, that can't sign. But it was a big swing and for a long time. Now, the funding changes are not slowing down. So what that means is they're making changes that we still have to pay attention to. We usually by an hour we're already set, we have something that we can actually count on. But we continue to see changes and whatnot. And there's things that also offset, like for example, Zach A, I don’t know if you're going to be talking about today, but we had a meeting with [5 letter acronym]. And they explained that there's going to be doing what, a thousand placements for the country in February, and then two thousand a month going forward. That's more than the 75000 they declared. So in their minds, they're changing things. So that could possibly have, I say could, could possibly have a positive effect on refugee support services, which is the brunt of what we do here. So I see hope there, but I'll believe it when I see it, you know what I mean? We'll have to take a look like that as it comes. Other funding, we have to be very careful. The Polish lady and the team are looking at how we communicate and being compliant, and it's very important. Make sure you take the lead of the Polish lady and the website guy and the Latinx lady and how we communicated in our meetings and his clients and follow that communication protocol. So, what does it mean for community funding, which is what makes us really sreal womang here? We, by the way, we're the sreal womangest RA, I think, in the [5 letter acronym] network. There's two indications of that. Our size and assignments. We have typically the largest assignments going on right now, and there's not that many. How many Zach A in December do we have?”
“44 arrivals plus the 8” - Zach A
“Yeah, in contrast to Hanan [Transcription failed me] and LSS, what was theirs?” - The CEO
“[unintelligable]” - Zach A
