so I installed Gentoo and everything is working except sound. I'm using pipewire and have its alsa and pulse backends enabled. however, no sound card is detected. aplay --list-devices shows no sound cards and pipewire only shows dummy output. I'm using openrc and the distribution kernel (gentoo-kernel-bin)

The deskilling effect of LLM use is real. Figuring out how to do things for yourself is the cornerstone of the entire learning process, and if you bypass it, everything else you 'learn' about how to do something with LLM help has no solid foundation in understanding that is necessary to change, adapt, and apply that knowledge in the future. It may seem harmless to 'skip ahead' with LLMs here and there bc 'you don't need to learn that', but it builds a habit of not understanding anything.

I am once again angry at iOS and its atrocious update experience. How is this a serious operating system? :neocat_scream_angry:
Update says it needs 3.45 GB. But that's the download size! It needs 12 GB free to actually install! And the current iOS is already using like 20 GB of storage. Out of 64 GB! And there's no way to tell iOS to offload the photos that are already on iCloud from the device!

How do people with real devices update this junk?

If I ever think about buying an iOS device for myself, I need someone to check if I've been abducted by aliens and replaced with someone else.

The @emf@social.emfcamp.org call for participation is open, and so are submissions for the arcade! Starting in 2024, we pivoted from an arcade of classic and retro commercial games, to a space for games makers in and adjacent to the EMF community.

We offer DIY cabinets with x86 pcs or raspberry pis for digital game makers, and have space for more bespoke mechanical and physical games and playable objects.

Just like with the CFP, makers of accepted games are guaranteed the opportunity to buy a ticket, but submitting your game to the arcade is also a great way for folks who canโ€™t make it to the event to have a lil piece of themselves present.

Saw an online discussion elsewhere that it's TOTALLY UNREALISTIC for Emily to get a job at a big organization where she happens to be friends with someone in a high position, because it's an obvious conflict of interest on Claire's part, and no real big organization would allow such an obvious conflict of interest in hiring. They acknowledge that Claire isn't literally the one hiring Emily, but note that Morray is very easily swayed and would probably be won over by Claire mentioning her personal connection with Emily.

It's been a couple years now, but being gendered correctly still tickles me regardless of what form it takes. Just feeling like I'm seen more for who I feel I am hasn't yet failed to light my heart at least a little. These days it's especially potent when I realize it's coming from someone who would otherwise not be as tolerant and doesn't realize it, hehe.

These days for my stream I include "LGBTQ+ Dragon Girl plays[...] in the title, and I got a comment asking "why did you feel you needed to add your sexuality in the title", and I realized that they didn't know I was trans because of what they were getting fixated on, hehehe RevoSpring
