hey - me and my family could still use a bit of help so we can continue to stay safe in a hotel that is not only in a much better place, but also has a kitchen.
we do NOT want to go back to a bottom of the barrel motel with a bar fridge. that will completely kill our still-fragile mental health.
still really need help, everyone. i NEED us to stay safe here because the alternative - aka being forced to leave - will do irreparable harm to this family.
goal: $0/$2600 so we can continue to stay here.
also $0/$200 for groceries because we need help with that too.
Know a great way to get me 100% on board with orbital data centers?
Build them on the ground.
Like, go create a data center that uses solar power, radiative cooling, and microwave communication. No water. No external electricity. All self contained. Put one in a ritzy neighborhood and see what folk think. Betcha they're a lot quieter than existing data centers, and you can even use some of the thermal exchange from having a local atmosphere to help cool things.
Then we can talk about setting money on fire launching Kessler Syndrome fuel.
I have never seen the Avatar movies (blue aliens). On the other hand, I have seen Star Wars and was not impressed.
So it's really funny to me to hear die-hard Star Wars fans talk about how terrible they think Avatar is, but only by describing it in the exact way I would describe Star Wars.
after a year of hiatus, i have release not one, not two, not three, but FOUR new blog posts, all linked together in a series! it does not go where you think it goes.
Hereโs the thing you need to know about people who transitioned as adults: their transition is probably a truly epic saga. They might be the most basic person ever, and they might not tell you their story, but itโs there.
Maybe itโs about the extremes they reached running from their dysphoria. Maybe itโs an intricate web of relationships and pain and sorrow. Maybe itโs an internal tale of descending into themselves to battle daemons that society itself cursed them with.
Ghost of Christmas Future shows up near me alongside some snooty-looking egg dude, points one bony finger at me, egg looks on horrified, falls to their knees in tears, they both disappear.
It feels like we're in the part of a fairy tale when everything is bleak and helpless. So let's hope our fairy godmothers are on the way with some fabulous gowns and talking animals to help us set things right.
It's a little funny that I can tell when, later into the semester, a lot of students stop showing up because the university's network connection is way faster.
