Amazon Prime BRAT Live??? Amazon Prime BRAT Live???
Question

idk if anyone else here has mentioned this but is it far fetched to think Charli might do the Amazon Prime Brat Live version from the moment at her upcoming festival run??😭😭

i don’t really see her performing her same exact brat set especially after releasing the moment and I guess playing a couple songs from the wh album but I feel like itd be sooo funny if she showed up with backup dancers and the red lip and all

Faces of Death early screenings (Possibility) Faces of Death early screenings (Possibility)

Just want to give everyone a heads up, AMC theaters do a screening of certain horror movies ahead of release. This month (on March 23rd) the “secret” (the film is revealed upon show time) film is the same runtime as Charli’s upcoming film Faces of Death (1hr 37min).

I’m attending in hopes of seeing the movie early, but I can’t say this is definitely what the movie will be!

Wanted to share this possibility with others so they can take advantage of this likely being the earliest showing of the film in theaters.

Charli XCX and Wuthering Heights made me leave my boyfriend

I’m a gay man. I’ve been dating this man for a little over a year. He has been cheating on me throughout the entirety of our relationship. He was not that good about hiding it and I tried to be understanding and be there for him because I believe that a lot of this is related to trauma he has from being cheated on in past relationships.

We saw Wuthering Heights together this Tuesday not knowing the intense narratives surrounding toxicity, infidelity, and Stockholm syndrome.

It immediately got a little tense between the two of us. I listened to Charli XCX’s Wuthering Heights album and it gave me the courage I needed to standup for myself and give myself a voice. For so long in this relationship I tried to edit myself to be perfect for him but in the end, i just began to lose sight of what I wanted.

Charli XCX thank you for Dying for You. I am stronger because of you.

Was the moment really about Brat? Was the moment really about Brat?
Discussion

Long-time angel working on an important deadline, so of course I am compelled to spend time theorising on Reddit rather than doing my own work.

Before I theorise, I want to say, I enjoyed the moment, but it had some challenges, but i've deleted that since I have since wrote an essay below, which contains spoilers if you haven't seen it.

I think the moment is more of a commentary on her Boom Clap experience rather than Brat. I think the Charli we saw in this film had more in common with the limbo she was in post Sucker/Boom Clap. She had this viral moment alongside Fancy, and suddenly the label saw different goal posts for her, how could they extend this newfound stardom and moment for her career? She was younger and ultimately more caught up in this, which is why her character is more passive and conflicted.

In pursuing this moment, the label stifled the flame of her individuality, which, now, after regaining her identity through HIFN, Crash and ultimately Brat, she can reflect on with confidence and assurance in her vision and the long game of that journey.

When the label were pushing her to be the girl next door popstar, and extend the boom clap moment, they also pushed her to be on Taylor's stadium tour. For other artists, this was the next step for them in becoming a household name but it didn't feel like the right fit for her from my POV as a fan. She has spoken since about resenting it and how it affected her vision for herself as an artist.

It was strange to see Charli hosting incredible POP2 shows in tiny venues across the world in between Taylor's tour. I remember noting that she wore the same outfit on both tours, these sheer satin two-piece tracksuits, but somehow she seemed out of place in it at both gigs. At the POP2 show I went to, as she performed, the outfit ripped and came off, and it was like this symbolic cocoon being shed (which ultimately led to the bouncing boobs meme) and her being where she wanted to be.

In the moment, you can see how Celeste represents AG Cook and/or her vision for Brat, but actually, I think Celeste represents Charli during the post-sucker era, and Johannes is the label pushing her for maximum appealability. There are so many allusions in the writing about her artistic vision for brat vs. mainstream appeal that speak to the struggle to have her label understand her artistic vision post, Vroom Vroom. I also think her voice note for Celeste was a conversation to her former self and the journey she had to take to get to where she was in releasing BRAT.

I can see what a lot of people watching the film view the Taylor Spoof performance as a petty dig in the Sympathy is a Knife vs. Actually Romantic discourse. To me it reads as too petty, and sure, it is probably a factor because it will get people talking. I think is a deeper allusion to struggles with her label back then, instead, and the real example of her being pushed to be an artist that she had to persevere through at the time. It also explains why the film chose not to do something more drastic like her taking her own life, which would have made a more exciting film, but wouldn't have spoken true of her experiences, where showing up and pushing through was a large factor in her success now.

The moment was labelled as an unserious, satyrical send up of popstardom by her and Aiden. Understanding Charli's journey up to BRAT, this also feels like an opportunity to explore her frustrations against particular archetypes and people she has dealt with in the industry. If she had her way, the lyrics to Gone would have been

I feel so unstable, fucking hate my label
How they're making me feel lately

which feels like an embodiment of her journey in the Moment and why I think the film is deeper than we realise.

I have listened to brat like a million times already and most of my days I just listen to charli's or lorde's discography. But I used to skip some songs (haven't heard them even for the first time yet) like So I, Rewind, I think about it all the time to kind of "save them for later".

Recently listened to So I, and I'm obsessed with that song. Its crazy how I avoid listening to these songs everywhere like skipping them in the concert videos just so I can be fed in the long run. Anyone else do this?
