What I believe is that aliens conceptionally sound ridiculously especially when you apply any kind of logic to why they are here. All they've done is given us a light show in the sky and that's it. Why? If they are so damn advanced that they can fly through space at warp speeds why give us a retarded light show? Why do this shit for over 100 years? How would you know either way? I know because I legit encountered a demon in my life once. It was a black cloud looking thing that was hanging over me when I woke up in the middle of the night once. I prayed to God when this happened and then the thing zipped out of my room in a hurry like something casted it out. That honestly changed my views on a lot of things that night

It's both and not exactly either. A few things:

Angelic/demonic dichotomy is sadly too crude. In reality there's crapload of different beings as diverse ethically and morally as humans can be - in fact, more than that, because they can also grow out of very different mentality, perception of things etc. There may be ones guided by love and higher ideals, but monstrous in action and ones who are simply goal-oriented and thus as selfish as reliable in case one's goals align. There's ones devotedly following some creed (however we'd judge it from our perspective) and ones absolutely amoral. And everything in-between.

Be it through genuine spiritual development or technology artificially stimulating such, many aliens are such spiritual beings while also having flesh/body living on another planet. Depending on the group, they may not even approach such things the way we do - for some, they're not really a specie, just group of various such spiritual entities who simply pool resources and use similar "model" of a body. They're not "people" like we are, in that they're connected together through shared genetics. Of course, there's also ones very different from that.

It's usually elites above governments (though some of them may have roles in governments themselves as well) and they don't push any particular narrative as much as shitloads of various, different ones, sometimes even with some half-truths. Rather than bank on lie, keeping people lost in many conflicting information is more reliable long-term.

Or the opposite, it's much simpler than that. That there's no hidden meaning behind light shows, that was just a side effect of some action, while otherwise they don't give as much shit about us or contact with us beyond whatever fulfills their own goals.

If you'll go to a zoo and your phone rings, it's not that you've played deeply meaningful music for the animals in the enclosure. The monkeys may think it's all deeply profound things or something not sensible ("why would they come here from who knows how far away to play us their music when they have power and freedom to go anywhere?") but the truth may be that you see the whole event very differently and it's just a random visit at the zoo to kill time before you have to do something else in the area mixed with someone just happening to call you at the time.

It's looking for some profound intent behind every action that may trip people as likely as assuming everything just happens at random.
