Fandom is planning to start translating English wiki articles into other languages using AI. If you log in to view comments on the blogpost announcing this, you can see this decision is extremely unpopular with Fandom editors.

The company used to have better support for international wikis with special representatives, but those were retired years ago. Fandom is claiming this new feature will help international communities, but this blogpost wasn't even posted in any language other than English.

When Fandom uses AI to generate content, they send a message to wiki admins and editors that they think it would be better for a machine to write wiki articles instead of actual humans. Hopefully the massive community backlash to this announcement will make Fandom reconsider.

This post must go viral and you should make a part 2 covering more of the bad changes that they have done on their platform. Obviously, this being one of them, but they have increased censorship, added even more bloated recommendations, and globally blocking people over forking.

If I see a game wiki and it’s on a fandom page I give up on knowing the answer to my question instantly. I pray this convinces people to use a better site

When did they require an account to view the comments? I feel like it’s a recent thing and possibly tied to the choice to use a i.
