Thousands of San Francisco residents are without power on Friday afternoon during a record-breaking heat wave.

As of 3:30 p.m., power was off for 7,178 PG&E customers in the city, according to the utlity’s outage map. It’s unclear what caused the outage, but PG&E categorized it as “unplanned.” The affected neighborhoods include Cole Valley, Ashbury Heights, Mount Sutro, the Inner Sunset, Haight-Ashbury and the Castro. The outage also includes the UC San Francisco Parnassus campus.
