Another small fire at Terra-Gen battery storage

A bird’s eye view of the Terra-Gen battery storage facility on Monday night. It was taken by The Roadrunner’s drone, proving once again that Roadrunners CAN sometimes fly.

Another small fire occurred Monday night at the Terra-Gen Energy Storage System in Valley Center.

Terra-Gen released the following statement Tuesday morning:

At approximately 5:29 P.M yesterday, the Emergency Management System (EMS) detected a smoke alarm in a battery storage unit at the Terra-Gen Energy Storage System in Valley Center. The Valley Center Fire Department and the San Diego County Hazardous Materials Division were dispatched and were on  scene monitoring the situation until 8:00 P.M.

The facility’s safety design systems prevented the event from escalating beyond a small amount of smoke produced and kept the incident contained to one storage unit and suppressed the small fire. Terra-Gen personnel were on scene and are coordinating with the Fire Department and other public safety agencies.

There was no threat to the public, and no evacuation orders were put in place.
