it is because it is a slightly modded? illogical impulse that is probably one of the most popular rices out there ever.
the other one everyone posts all the time is Caelestia Shell.
then there's slightly blurry Hyprland with some stock apps like Waybar, bonus points if they didn't blur the background but the entire window making the text hard to read.
and I'm all for it! I think everyone is at different levels of their ricing journey and it makes sense people would take these in my opinion very pretty and well-composed shells and add their own fair, but sometimes it becomes hard to see exactly what their own flair is due to the very bold design language by the original authors.
Personally the aesthetic I find the most boring and unoriginal is all the android-like rice. Those toggles and pill shaped bars and touch buttons everywhere are so shit. You have so much rice potential on Linux and everyone is just making theirs like a phone.
You're not wrong, I think almost all shells draw design inspiration from other desktop shells or other operating systems. I was also heavily inspired by Illogical Impulse and custom Android ROMs
where do you guys get these beautiful wallpapers (nice rice dude)
Wallhaven has some pretty solid wallpapers.maybe just type wallpapers in GitHub
You can look at my detail comment
you don't have a "detail comment"
I swear these shells ALL look the same

that said, it does get very repetitive - yes.
I think they just all used material design 3, not necessarily basing it off of illogical impulse
Yeah now that you’ve compared the same shells to same type of rice I’m dailying, I see the point. If it works and looks good, it’s gonna be overused.

Please tell me idle ram usage? When it first turns on without any apps open!
first turn on:
1.6GB/9.55GB
qs only:
530MB on btop (opening kitty terminal)
300-400MB on the shell System Monitor Panel (using dgop)
it kinda depends on how u setup ur KDE i think i have seen as low as 1gb or 800mb without even trying to seriously modify it
tip: if u are low on ram have swap setup, i know its not the same but will still be kinda useful
dot files?
Fellow tgirl spotted? :3
I'm not actually, but I'll take that as a compliment for the rice! :3
First wallpaper is certainly an... interesting one to pick, then
The rice does look nice - very similar to Noctalia
Nah, they would have used arch 😂
weird al :D
looks like a phone UI
