Great stuff - they actually went in and fixed the overtly broken state of the original's poker mechanics. Almost everything else is retained and spruced up, minus some minor rights issues here and there. I know securing the rights to everything will be more difficult, but I'm still praying for Poker Night 2 to get the same treatment, and also make a bunch of Steam key scalpers cry.

Great game still and the poker this time feels decent.
Getting the TF2 items is a nice plus! Now eagerly waiting that Poker Night 2 gets the same treatment.

I paid my $10 and supported the dev but I'm giving this a thumbs down just to counter all of the people claiming this is actually a competent poker game when it's not. In fact, I will go as far as to say the developers of the game are outright lying when they say they fixed the AI, as there is no indication that the cards play any role in how any of the characters play, nor that their behavior is anything other than random. Just check some of the screenshots I've posted to see what I mean.

If you've ever played poker with a bunch of people who don't know how to play poker, you will understand how frustrating of a game this is almost immediately. You're forced into playing over 30% of hands due to the pace at which the game moves. Blinds raise way too fast and, while you can somewhat counter this by raising the stakes, if you play an even remotely normal percentage of hands, the NPCs will play stupidly amongst themselves, leaving you to face off against one with a huge stack of chips. I typically see around 20% of flops when I play, but I have the most success at around 65% in this game -- that's an unheard-of percentage in either tournaments or cash games.

Claims that they reworked the AI seem to be false, or they aren't remotely clear at all about what that means. I can get my head around the idea of "Of course Max plays erratically -- he's literally insane", but that's not really how it works. For example, I would think Tycho a more conservative player, but I watched him go all-in chasing a straight in less than 20 minutes of gameplay. In fact, all 4 characters seem to share the same exact traits of being stupidly aggressive based on the hands I have watched them bet.

They all engage in crazy pre-flop bidding wars with absolute trash cards, that I would never place real money on in a million years. They raise with no hand. They call while drawing dead. There are tells that indicate if a character is bluffing or not but they don't matter, because calling a bluff never pressures them into folding -- they will just go all in with no hand! Again, I understand that certain characters are erratic and will engage in erratic behavior but when you have all 4 NPCs consistently betting and raising with hands like 8-4 off-suit, it really just turns it into an RNG game.

Like with the original and its sequel, I'm happy to pay $10 to support Skunkape, I'll enjoy the funny lines until they become repetitive, and I'll unlock the TF2 items. But, as was also the case with those games, I'm sure I will be frustrated by the actual gameplay the entire time. As someone who has been looking for a fun poker game on Steam for a long time, I was really disappointed to see all of the positive reviews from ass-clowns claiming this is somehow a competent poker simulator when it's not.

And to all of you saying, "Wow this game taught me how to play poker!" -- do yourselves a favor and stay as far away from a casino as humanly possible.

Really addictive and a great way to pass the time. I just wish the characters had more dialogue. Still, it has a nice nostalgic feel overall.

Good game, although the repetitive comments from the other players gets a little too much after a while. My big issue was the saves. After a few games it takes you back to "new game" rather than continue. If they fix this I would recommend it for those poker players out there.

Love every about this game, but there is one reach bug I've noticed. There's this fourth annoying character that keeps appearing called tycho, and is making the game unplayable.

LOVE this game, having a blast! However I don't think it should be SD verified. The graphics settings are saved to the cloud and it's a pain to swap between secondary/tertiary devices.
