TVTropes reserves the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate this Agreement.
3. Content Rules & Community Guidelines
TVTropes is a community-driven site that thrives on collaboration. When contributing content, you agree to:
Follow our Customs & Guidelines.
Avoid plagiarism and respect copyright laws.
Avoid disruptive behavior, including but not limited to: harassment, trolling, spamming, personal attacks, or abuse.
TVTropes does not tolerate objectionable content, including:
Hate speech, threats, or discriminatory language.
Explicitly illegal content.
NSFW or sexually explicit material outside of approved guidelines.
Copyrighted content posted without authorization.
TVTropes reserves the right to moderate, edit, or remove content at its sole discretion.
4. Intellectual Property & Copyright Compliance (DMCA)
Users retain ownership of their original content but grant TVTropes a non-exclusive, worldwide, perpetual, royalty-free license to display, distribute, and modify it.
By submitting content, you affirm that you have the rights to share it.
TVTropes respects the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA). If you are a copyright holder and believe your copyrighted material has been posted without authorization, please follow our DMCA Policy for takedown requests.
5. User Conduct & Account Termination
TVTropes reserves the right to suspend or ban users who:
Engage in harassment, abuse, or other disruptive behavior.
Repeatedly violate community guidelines.
Attempt to circumvent moderation actions or create multiple accounts to evade bans.
If your account is terminated, you may not re-register without explicit approval.
6. Subscription Services (for premium ad-free accounts)
TVTropes offers a premium subscription that provides ad-free viewing, new badges and additional features in our mobile applications. By subscribing to our Services, you agree to the following terms:
6.1 Subscription and Payment Terms
Billing: All subscription fees are billed in advance on a recurring basis (monthly or annually) depending on the plan you select.
Payment Authorization: By providing your payment information, you authorize us to charge the applicable fees to your payment method on a recurring basis.
Renewal Process: Your subscription will automatically renew at the end of each billing period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the next scheduled billing date.
6.2 Cancellation Policy
Cancellation Rights: You may cancel your subscription at any time by following the instructions provided in your account settings or by using our contact form.
Continued Access: Upon cancellation, you will retain full access to all subscription benefits (e.g., ad-free experience, additional app features, etc.) until the end of your current billing period. No prorated refunds will be issued for any unused portion of the subscription term.
Reactivation: If you cancel your subscription, you may be able to reactivate it in the future. Any change in the benefits or pricing structure upon reactivation will be clearly communicated at the time of renewal.
6.3 Refund Policy
General Rule: All subscription payments are non-refundable once the billing period has commenced. By subscribing, you acknowledge that you are purchasing access to a digital service with ongoing benefits.
Special Circumstances: In exceptional cases—such as accidental duplicate charges, technical issues that prevent access to the Services, or other verifiable billing errors—we may, at our sole discretion, issue a refund. Refund requests must be submitted within 7 days of the charge in question.
Annual Plans: For subscriptions billed on an annual basis, refunds will only be considered if requested within the first 14 days of the initial subscription period, provided that no significant use of premium features has occurred. After this period, no refunds will be provided.
7. Liability Disclaimer
TVTropes provides content as-is and does not guarantee its accuracy, completeness, or reliability.
We are not liable for any damages resulting from use of TVTropes, including technical errors or content disputes.
8. Changes to These Terms
TVTropes reserves the right to update these Terms at any time. Continued use of TVTropes after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
