The pharma and biotech sector in the GCC is heating up but most people still don’t know how to position themselves to take advantage of it. Saudi is now over 50 percent of the entire regional pharma market. The UAE is building biotech infrastructure at pace. Everyone is talking about localisation, R&D, genomics, healthtech, and investment pipelines. This is no longer theoretical, it’s happening. We’re seeing multinational pharma companies expanding. New biotech startups launching. Regional players building capability in-house. And with that comes demand. Market access. Clinical operations. Scientific affairs. Strategy. All of it is moving. But here’s the problem. Most of the roles never make it to job boards. A lot of the hiring is internal. Some companies don’t even create a spec until they’ve already found the right person. Which means most people looking for jobs in this space are already behind. We speak to people every week in this market who are highly qualified but invisible. They’re applying online. Getting no response. Wondering why nothing is landing. The old approach doesn’t work anymore. Not in this market. Not at this level. What does work is getting visible to the right decision makers. Understanding who’s hiring and what kind of roles are opening up before they get posted. Knowing how to talk about your value in a way that aligns to what companies are building. There are roles. Lots of them. But if you're waiting to see them on LinkedIn or thinking someone is going to tap you on the shoulder, you’ll be waiting a long time. If you’re in this space and want to stay ahead of the market, this is the time to get strategic.
