Aparjods finished fifth in men's singles, while Tiruma finished the women's singles in eighth place. Latvia also finished fifth in the bobsleigh 4-man, while skeleton slider Martins Dukurs finished seventh in the men's individual race. Also in Beijing, short track speed skater Roberts Kruzbergs finished ninth in the men's 500m event, and figure skater Deniss Vasiljevs finished 13th in men's single skating. The Latvian men's ice hockey team were eliminated by Denmark in the first knockout round to finish ranked 11th out of 12 teams.
