Let me politely suggest to replace Paul Krugman with a Black American colleague as columnist . Paul had a great run there for more than 20 years. Let's thank him all for what he has done and move on. : just graciously step down!#ReplaceKrugman

Yiran Fan, one of our best graduate students, was shot yesterday about three blocks from where I live. One of our best and brightest, won the Lee Prize, was my TA, talked to him much about his research in fall. This is unbelievably sad.

In Germany, covid test centers are everywhere, lines are short, fast tests are free. How so? Per policy: easy to set up & government-subsidized. Then economics does the rest. Easy money! The test shortage disaster in the US was entirely and easily avoidable.
