Every PvE match in Nuclear Option turning into ground pounding is getting somewhat boring. Enemy aircraft pose literally no threat and in the vast majority of matches there is a 1:1 ratio of allies to enemies.

PvE is difficult in any sim-like environment.
Getting AI to simulate human adversary behavior well enough to be a threat is galaxy-brain shit, and just brute forcing it for difficulty with more dumb AI units melts lower-end machines and quickly becomes a performance bottleneck as you have more human players involved.
BMS is the only one that's even close to satisfying in PvE and that took an autistic wizard with once-in-a-generation talent.

Was there a standard number of fighters on patrols in WW2? Specifically for the Luftwaffe? The Il-2 Campaign generator will generate flights with 2-3 fighters which seems retarded given how many enemy flights are active and how the AI doesn't seem to care about helping friendlies.

I frequent the graviteam thread there and the last one was up for over a year.

I want to fly with ATC but I don't want VATSIM and X-Plane 12's own ATC has been shit for an entire year. It was working decently and they ruined it, for example when flying a small cat A or B aircraft it usually (especially for A) tries to just do vectoring and visuals no matter what, like if you have insane weather and low ceiling and visibility it'll still give you a fucking visual approach. Is there any 3rd party ATC plugin that actually works?

For X-Plane I think your options are Pilot2ATC and SayIntentions
SayIntentions is better in basically every way but is like a $200 a year subscription.
Pilot2ATC is a one-time $60 purchase
Really I never touch Pilot2ATC anymore -- it uses the less-reliable old-school built-in Windows voice recognition, and has no traffic injection so is never controlling anyone but you -- but it does have one nice thing: you can file an IFR flight plan to and from any airport (which I assume the built-in x-plane ATC an do too), whereas SayIntentions IFR requires the airports be in SimBrief. This likely won't matter if you're flying airliners but for tiny planes that can land on tiny airstrips, it's annoying those usually aren't in SimBrief.

BeyondATC and FShud don't currently support X-plane as far as I can see

Snowrunner is fun, but hard. I've realised too late I should be exploring other maps in my scout to get levels and money. The two trucks I've found on the first map are awful off-road and get stuck in mud, and I can't unlock upgrades like better tyres the like for them yet.

I read the guy who works on the ATC is slowly fixing these issues. Today I tried to begin work on my simple custom ATC plugin but I gave up after I realized how cumbersome the implementation would be. I created a state machine and it's all logical and simple but the actual communication with X-Plane and fetching the actual flight plan data and separating the approaches and departures and whatnot would be fucking cumbersome because X-Plane's API does not give you any convenience functions so one has to parse the AIRAC cycle data within their plugin and go from there I think.

Air combat is still such a pain in the ass. You have to babysit each aircraft to prevent them from doing retarded shit and dying.
I wish it was possible to order aircraft to "engage" the enemy and keep engaging until he's dead, but for some reason that's too much, or I'm doing something wrong. Allow me to post my simraceist experience on fooking Linux (Bazzite edition, because fuck wasting time on tinkering).
So here's what sims werk and which werken't.
ACC
>pretty much flawless and my go to
>aside from no soft-steering lock, because Kunos are dumb and SimHub doen't work and I can't be bothered things are great
>had to set all effects to 0 in Oversteer and bump base FFB to 75, otherwise you have constant centering spring
>side effect is no stationary friction - Kunos are hacks
>best and most complete sim, period
AMS2
>just werks and pretty darn well

>only gripe is that outside of Braz Stocks and F1, everything else pretty much feels not fun to drive

I'm actually a bit annoyed SCS is doing Illinois next, I presume they're doing it just to get Chicago in, but it's only connected to two states currently in the game and is out of the way. We'll get South Dakota next which is connected to quite a few, but then British Colombia in Canada which I suppose is connected to three US states.

Not him but it's a lot of delivery. You can deliver parts to build things like bridges, mostly just a check list. Sometimes you can find challenges like towing vehicles out of swamps. There's a good mix of gameplay types.
If you wanna build shit, Road Craft is what you want. I haven't played it, though.
