Turnslop is a completely obsolete remnant from tabletop, where there is simply no other choice to simulate battles. But there is on computers. Computers can properly simulate battles in real time, without needless and arbitrary simplifications and abstractions.

No matter if you choice initiative, IGOUGO, alternating activations, turns will still completely fail to simulate battlefield. Either resulting in utter absurdism like in Battle Brothers, formation based game where you can't even move in formation or simply amplify alpha striking to a ridiculous degree. Being unable to properly intercept enemies with your melee units so they can't reach your ranged ones is a common issue. Basic kitting tactics are always terribly represented too.

Turns needlessly waste your time as well. And it gets worse the more units is on a battlefield. Because of this turn based games have to be very simplified. Maps have to be small and compact else travelling will take too much time. There has to be a small cap on controllable amount of units in your team. There can't be many enemies either. All you can really do are repetitive elite only battles in small areas instead of letting you actually make diverse factions and enemies, including horde based ones.

There are many other advantages of real time, which simply does everything turns do, but better. And the only "disadvantage" of a micromanagement is easily and completely solved by adding optional pause option

The thing is that turnslop is easy to play for casuals, easy to design and easy to make. You can even make them work on consoles. Which is why they are so popular, unfortunately.

It's a handicapped system which is by default gamey, simplistic and limited. I feel like both 2 and Inquisition continue and build upon the world first introduced in Origins.
2 deals very heavily with the questions of mages and their treatment, and the DLCs build upon some of the more fantastical elements of the lore.

Decided to restart banquet for fools AGAIN and went with a full pagan caster leader + 3 ranged people, it's hilarious how hard this setup bends the entire game.

I'll give you the wartables, that was some mobileslop nonsense but this one just isn't it. A singular guy with a shield requires more tactics than anything else in the previous games simply because you have to manually pilot a character to attack them from behind or knock them down. Genuinely nothing in Origins or 2 requires you to do more than just have a tank soak up the damage and cast spells, maybe heal if necessary.

Dragon age lore isn't written to be interesting by itself. It genuinley expects you to care about a character from a kingdom you never heard of fighting a war you never heard of, that has no bearing on anything else, just for the sake of it. They tried writing history without context when the context is the reason why you would read it in the first place
Whenever I got a codex entry for something i actually wanted to learn about I was sorely dissapointed. The entry for blood magic for example doesn't tell you anything more than what you learn in-game and it also explains it in a wholly uninteresting way

The answer is no, the exp required per level is exponential so you'll probably be able to hit level 20 still (not the cap but enough) and beat the game just fine. But it wont necessarily be easy as a noob
The hard part is getting into city since there are no "easy encounters" on the way in
If you struggle I recommend using hit and run tactics to flee from combat after killing 1-2 enemies and/or abusing strats like adrenline + flesh sacrifice -> skingraft -> adrenaline flesh sacrifice -> chameleon cloak delay skip turn -> delay turn then act again to get the most out of your turns without taking aggro by being in permanent stealth and cheating the ap economy on the turns you act
Or teleporting enemies out of the fight into your team
You can also abuse living on the edge for literal invicibility for 2 turns and none of the voidwoken have hard cc so that wont be an issue
I dont know your comp but you can always respec and money for skills shouldn't be a problem at this point

Once you get into the city you can just
go the kemm mansion and buy the ap cost reducing tea to cheat every fight. you need the noble tag to interact with her but if you dont have the red prince you can just get a hat called "the noble hat" from the white magister barracks that lets you buy her tea anyway. there is an ambush fight on the way there if you betrayed the doctor at bloodmoon island by killing the advocate. that ambush has level 20 enemies that might wipe your party but as long as 1 character lives it's fine since they escape after 1-2 rounds of combat or the turn after you kill or stun the first of them. you can min-max the fight for exp but it doesnt sound like your party is up for the task so just tank the loss. you can send in 1 character to die and keep the rest of your party far away when engaging it

I didn't remember the gwerm mansion being hard but when you play on hard difficulty and try to do things underleveled everything is suddenly hellish
The baubaus are brutal with their high attack bonuses, high damage, and high ac
With damage resists and a significant hp pool as the cherry on top making them very hard to just get rid of
And when you put them together with an Abrikandilu things get downright awful
Dont come here before level 5 I guess
You can get through everything with enough experimentation and a bit of luck, but you "waste" so much time doing so.

it saves you one feat in the long term and gives additional benefits at the cost of delaying access to fencing grace until level 9 and greater weapon focus until level 16
but the latter is fairly irrelevant as it's only 1 accuracy
you can still take everything else before then like outflank and tanking feats

Turn based is easy. That's the only reason people like it.
RTWP forces you to think about the whole battlefield and how it changes over time.

Classic example. A fireball.
In turnbased everyone is frozen in time allowing you to run around. Gain vision of hidden enemies. Chant a full spell. And perfectly position it to hit all of the enemies.
In RTWP everyone is moving. Those archers are focusing your mage and will chase him down to interrupt his spell regardless of where he runs. Even if you do manage to get a fireball off, the enemies might be somewhere else by the time you finish casting and you might hit your teammates who have also moved.

I remember I showed my normalfag friends DA2, supposedly big rpg by a venerable studio, and they just laughed and we went back to talking about Witcher 2, Skyrim and Deus Ex.

The absolute whiplash between how terribly, absurdly shit DA2 was and how much journos shilled it ruined journo reputation permanently too. Nobody would take them seriously from that point on anymore. All those hamburger helper, "we want call of duty audience" and "awesome buttons" are due to DA2. DA2 didn't even have cinematic values or graphics to salvage it.
