Also, it's the intro for Timberborn, humans disappeared, and the world is in a general drought. It's a sequel to the Resident Evil movies.

>>560243859
Timberborn, but it has advanced water physics. I'm thinking of adding more dams to channel the water into a single canal so the watermill generates more energy.

It's weird how Goofy's considered the "dope" in his friend group, when he's the only one who managed to have a kid and raise him as a single dad. Mickey and Minnie never got married and Donald Duck's got anger issues, but ol' Goofy raised a son, put him through college, went back to college as an adult to finish his degree, and got a mature librarian girlfriend. That's a real man right there.

>units don't automatically de-deploy if you issue a move command in RA2
wtf
they do that in tiberian sun
>>
>>560248734
Water management is a big part of it, but the game is relatively easy. Or rather, it's hard to lose: beavers are very easy to please, and unless you starve them or let them get wounded or sick, they will only die of old ages. They can't leave, and the game isn't about balancing happiness: it's about making them as happy as possible to unlock more stuff.
It's very, very oddly cozy.

>>560267326
Really shows how the loser is the one who get a kid.
>>
>>560280437
They do? Damn, I feel cheated, moving units is always a pain in RA2.
>>
>>560281703
well artillery and juggernauts and tick tanks do
infantry can't deploy
just finished tiberian sun, awesome game, now onto ra2
>>
>>560281928
I never really played the Tiberium games, except the third one? Kane's Wrath? But yeah, all my experience is from Retaliation on Playstation, and RA2, and damn, moving units in RA2 really makes me realize how except AoE2 was.
>>
>>560282058
you can press D to deploy, guess i have to get used to that when playing allies
also vehicles might be able to auto undeploy, not sure yet, but yeah, ive also only played cnc3 before this, played 1 remaster, red alert 1 remaster, then sun, sun is an amazing game, the atmosphere etc is unmatched
>>
>>560282213
Yeah, but you can't position units in a formation, so putting GIs at a precise position is a pain, you have to move them one by one.
>vehicles might be able to auto undeploy
No, they don't. Some vehicles can garrison and transport units, and it uses the same shortcut than deploying, so no, they don't autoreploy.
I envy you, you'll get to experience the IFV goodness. The best part in RA2.

I'm not spoiling it. Just try them for yourself, pick any ally faction, and you'll see.
>>
>>560284436
uhh i guess infantry can shoot out of em? in which case that would make em cool, in generals my favorite strat is humvees with 1 engie and 4 rocket troops each and you just have a swarm of self-healing, rocket-chucking fast moving humvees that can deal with literally anything, jsut still a bit fragile

but i'll see, gonna play it tomorrow rn setting up the resolution n shit

killed a scrin city and killed the three fates ( they are racist against the count ) . I need to fight someone to play this faction. Probobly going to fight the white muslim, I'm still mad at him for last game. My economy is huge and I havent built a military base yet lol. Idk why my ally the prophet has such a large military - this actor often gets wiped off the map before I find his main city. I got the splentics quest again so my military is a bunch of influence spawned catiffs ( I can kill a catiff to make two catiffs. Zergling time. ) I had a dark vassal I traded for a city and got lucky and got a cyber bus though my units don't need it. I used it to get my first engineer across the dozens of rivers in this map. This city is going to be extremely strong - as long as I keep killing people to get my growth up. Allied with zephon right now - idk why he only has one base and not two like the acrin. My economy is huge and I have several resource outposts. I wanted to use the witches again - you have to research all of their spells but their spells are quite strong. I prefer them to the base Voice hero. I like the melee Voice hero. The NPC's diplomacy AI should be aware I am camping too many outposts and be mad at me about it lol. This game is going to be very free.

I think i fucked up my original city by not building a second construction yard sooner. I still do not have a military producing facility and due to my ability to kill a catiff to spawn two catiffs I still have one of the strongest militaries on the map. Everything in the southwest corner is going to take ages to get to. I just got a quest to kill three villages - these units have about 36 hp and count as transports. One of my allies took one of the villages which will stop my quest progress so I am going to reload the save and sick them on the rogue operating in the northwest corner. my allies the prophet and the scion just destroyed the artificer's main base and a few of my units helped take out their expansion. I'm skirmishing with the chieftess right now who is right in the middle of the map. I may have to turn on one of my allies if I want to keep my city growth up. That or produce some witches and get their teleport move, which costs dimensional echoes ( the upgraded red resource) . I would like to build some units that can generate creep but I think i have to buy them off the scrin and the scrin got wiped off the map. Zephon was marching towards my main base at one point but I paid him off and he gifted me resources next turn. Diplomacy too ez in this game

>>560296849
default city name. This base is going to be dedicated mostly to food and algae, plus I can use the existing bleed around the base so I find it a suitable name.

simulation theory makes powerful enough AI capable of magic. We see that in the real world with things like quantum entanglement and sometimes in fiction this gets greatly exagerated.

there are 3 branches of the tech tree. Humanity ( endgame units include tactical marines, assault marines and fucking baneblades, these tend to be named after rome, greek or german mythology) there are the Cybers -Zephon makes units out of junk, his titans look fucking awesome. The player units have judeo christian names and alot of the flavor text is about people being terrified that AI will sing like Elijah in 1 Kings and call down fire from the sky - clean futureperfect tech. Finally there is the voice. this is the biohorror and psionics faction. The scrin units are pretty sweet if you don't mind having a bunch of fookin prawns running around. The final unit they will sell a player is literally a dragon rider. The stuff in the player tech tree is cronberg nightmare monsters from the first to the last.

pictured in this image are Catiffs , sort of the hydralisk of this game. My faction leader gets them early, they are usually tier 3 or 4 in the tech tree. They have a 10 turn cooldown ability that brings them back from the dead at a third HP, and I have a leader spell ( these are called operations but think of them as global spells) where I can throw a debuff on an enemy unit where if they die they become a catiff under my control, or I can use it on one of my own units to turn it into a catiff. Endless horrors. In the early game I could kill one catiff and spawn 2 - this does not always seem to work and I'm unsure why. there is also a basic set of militants in this image and some cassiel shredders ( these things have no penalty for attacking with an undersized unit. Flying battlebot drones)

the big lad is called the elect of uldozhi or something like that. He is one of the voice heroes. Heroes have six inventory slots like warcraft 3.

I've had alot of fun orating all the tool tips and infodumps in this game. The writing is quite good. This was the quest completion text for destroying three villages. I had to reload turn 55 4 times to successfully prevent my ally from capturing the west most bunker and then i spent like 120 influence to move a catiff through the woods in a timely manner to kill the eastern most one. Aside from spawning catiffs the count's other faction ability is to restore the movement and action points to a unit at a cost ( I think it scales with base unit cost and accumulated XP)

Chosen destroyers + Apex predators and the new nomad conquerors can allow you to grow economy as a consequence of war stuff
>Suck up all your starting resources at the start
>Pack up, forward settle on your nearest enemy/city state
>Raze their provinces, get food, forcefully claim them for the sweet sweet economy bonus
>Raze their city for additional bonuses
>Suck up their resource nodes before fucking off to the next nearest enemy.
Honestly such a fun way to play, props to the developers on this one.

Ill check those out, SupCom is tricky to get into though it'll take me a while
Is anyone here able to put into words what makes this game legendary? Im not really sure how to describe it. Its sort of like Sins of a Solar empire but not quite? I don't know how to describe why im so impressed by it
>>
>>560393994
I think it's the fact that it's pretty freeform. Like, you're still restricted to tiers, but you can build anything, you're not forced to build a mine first then a factory.
>>
>>560394110
True. It also does a lot of stuff I've only seen in things like Wargame, but large scale and fast paced. Seeing my warships intercept missiles with CIWS and seeing nukes get shot down was really cool
>>
>>560394301
My strategy in FA (who only works against AI) is to spam fighters and bombers, and have them patrol the middle of the map.
It's very risky because they run out of fuel quickly and become easy pickings if the enemy techs up and make T2 or evne T3 anti-air, but against FA's AI, it works, and it gives air superiority.
The AI in FA completely and utterly fucks vanilla Supreme Commander's AI, so I admit I was very surprised the first time I tried FA and got two shots by a T3 bomber. I tried to hide my commander in the water while I desperately scrambled for T3 air, but alas, he get caught with water up to his shoulders, too much was left out.

>>
>>560395295
Dunno how much FAF faffs, but Cybrans naval units were loved. Just try them and see by yourself.
Also, the meta in FA was to spam T1 engineer, they had the best assist ratio. Dunno if FAF fixed it.
>>
>>560395412
I've only played UEF but I LOVE that T2 cruiser, seeing it fire long range missiles and shooting aircraft down with sams at the same time was excellent
I think the only aspect of SupCom I don't care for so far is that its not a terribly attractive game; I feel like it looks old even for 2007

>>560395852
You will love the Cybran T2... whatever it is. But boats in SupCom are usually very good: they end up as moving artillery pieces.
>>
what is your opinion on Orcgate?
>>
>>560402138
I have no idea what it is.
>>
>>560408003
I think it's the place/device from which Orcs invaded Tamriel between the AoE2 and AoE3 games.
>>
>>560393348
Really weird complaint desu, never heard people disliking that or FAF in general (if they like supcom in the first place). I mean you apparently haven't played it which explains it, just saying.

>>560393690
There's lot to like, the scale is just something that no other game replicates. The maps are massive and the difference between the biggest and smallest units is also massive. The economy is unique and there's just a lot of weight to the action with big chonkers feeling big and chonky.

>>560394673
If you only play single player, FAF with it's AI's is great, they offer massively improved challenge and variety over the FA AI's.

>finally find an interesting space game
>feels like homeworld but more personal
>ships handle great, it has nice atmosphere
>devs push out 1.0 but it's actually extremely limited
>only a dozen ships, extremely limited amount of weapons
>the same 5 missions repeated ad nauseum
>endless grind for artificial wall on progression (level)
I fell in love and 6 hours in it broke it and shat on it, what a massive waste of potential.
The devs also seem hell bent to call it feature complete, total bullshit.

I am back with some minor divegrass news. The team will be competing in an invitational in 2-3 weeks to test a rarely used version of PES. I'm using this as an opportunity to get the team's models ported to the new engine since the next /vg/ league will be on the same engine and I'm not sure if friendlies will be happening this season. The tournament format is 2 gold medals, 1 silver medal, and 2 bronze medals which would be something like this based on the current roster. Let me know if you have any ideas for the roster like if you want to see new/old players, medals shifted around, Horatio removed, etc. None of the roster changes for this invitational would affect the next VGL, I'll be asking you guys for suggestions or changes in a month or so.

play the game to kill them. ( Doktor Sleepless once said : Hate, Hate is all you need. ) purge the world of these horrors with the power of humanity.

I wish Zephon could have an e-sports scene. I know russia and eastern europe play competitive soulstorm still sometimes. It would be hard to sell Korea on turn based 40k when they can play actual bighammer but Gladius was built to support ( but not focus on )
competitive multiplayer . Fast speed, small map 1v1s or 4player FFA are not uncommon. Gladius being so faction specific makes its not suitable ( due imo to difficulty in balancing) to competitive multiplayer. Zephon with its 3 in 1 tech tree ( with rumors of a 4th path being added in a coming expansion. Idk what they would add alongside humanity, voice( psionic biohorror) and cyber) makes counterplay way more available. Yada yada everyone hates muh e-sports , sure, but I'd be happy to see commentated vods of humans strategically exploiting each other and utilizing the game's systems in a way that the AI cannot

There are alot of refrences to other IPs in this game. the starting human transport looks a ton like the chris nolan bat mobile. meat hooks from terry gilliam's movie Brazil. Junji Ito's fault of amgra flats. the acrin race essentially being the scrin, and the concept of the voice coming from dune ( though heavily mutated) . Fight against donald trump and furiosa. Seeing all this obscure shit in one place is really cool. I quite like the writing in this game and though odds are it will never happen I think a serialized live action television adaptation could work really well for this game. Mystery, War and Horror + Post Apoc Sci-fi is a really intresting blend of genres. I mean who ever thought we would get a horror themed 4x game

the soundtrack bangs too. music will go from sounding like ronan harris to shoji meguro

big ol 8 person war in the southwest corner of the middle of the map. I am defending the biker warlord from the fallen soilder right now and its pissing off the mochachino hindu-jew buisness man I am allied with ( this guy's goal is a perfect cup of coffee and to acheive it he burns a picture of his face into the sun ) . I am a few turns ahead of this right now and my allies ( the child prophet and said jeetjew ) are falling back to wipe furiosa out - which would suit me fine. If they destroy her last base then I can expand on the coast for food supply - i just started engineer production the turn before my allies pivoted to attack her - my intent was to clear out some of the forests near my expansion but being able to use him to expand again will add a bunch of value to him. playing the biohorror side of the tech tree devalues roads over using witches to teleport my units around or using the massive worm transport units to tunnel. Using engineers in combat is a core part of all cyber branches and can be quite good for mechanized humanity too.

Yes. this game is their third game using the same engine. I wish the game before . Proxy Studios and Slythrine games. IIRC the game before gladius was some alpha centurai style game with much less of an emphasis on combat.

one issue they found with gladius is how important fighting over the jokaroo outposts were - these capture points let players purchase items. In this game instead of shops on the map you have to research item purchases through the tech tree ( I have literally never done this ) or get them at random from outposts or NPCs.

they learned alot from gladius. The whole fight the lord of skulls quest was fucking stupid in gladius but the titan fight in this game works quite well. Quests in gladius were the same every time and very simple, closer to faction tutorials. in this game they are meat and potatos. They spent a long time on gladius and got to make something original now and their love of their own freedom shows. Few games respect the modern era , most games pretend we are still in the 90s or 2000s. This game makes my heart sing, and that is before dreaming of this game while in prison and then accidentally reading the book that it gets its name from.

I truncated my own post: I meant to say that I wish their first 4x game was on the same piracy site I used to get gladius and zephon. I also respect the dev team for doing analytics on matches of the game played on pirated copies. Despite the small metrics the community appears to be very dedicated and the game has received numerous balance patches. Lots of DLC means more content coming - the DLC is available to pirate within a week each time. I found the history of patch notes while I began posting in this thread and several things I am abusing have been nerfed already.
>>
>>560501406
So they made Gladius, but their own OC fantasy setting instead?
Sounds good.
>>
>>560505930
yeh you can tell they really love this game. The ideas that were bad in gladius work pretty well here.

Gladius was damn near a game i /r/equested myself, playing warhammer fantasy maps and weird chinky knock offs for civ 3. I waited a long time to play it cuz they did not do eldar early on ( I appreciate how they adapted the ynnari but they made webway gates terrible likely due to soulstorm ptsd) . Gladius felt great to play simply beacuse the math was so similar to regular 40k. Largely I already knew how everything worked. Some things feel a bit off though, like hero units with 6 HP but massive armor and invul saves. Invul saves still exist in this game but the numbers feel much more reasonable. The engine they developed for gladius was held back by the warhammer IP and now they can go really crazy with it.

most vidya pretends that /pol/ and gamergate and shit never happened, this game has white muslims, extremely cruel black women , jeetjew tech moguls - one of the first quests I got the very first time I played this game was about an airborne pathogen sweeping the planet and you can choose one of four options. full martial law, leave some buisnesses open with masks - you chose how to deal with covid. I also like how far they push AI - most people think 'haha funny computer mind' not ' digital godmind that can edit the code of reality - a mathematical cthulu' . Most devs stick their head in the sand and pretend that the world never had a right wing populous movement ( as unsucessful as it has been ) or go so far to the otherside that they become a meme game ( for example while I consider myself to be a right wing extremist I think the rapper Mr Bond is fucking dogshit ) I just find this to be a strong balance that acknowledges alot of what is going on with the world . For a game like this I imagine alot of people who are still on the plantation would treat the lack of social or political commentary and moralizing to be a dog whistle

I forgot to mention one of the biggest pop culture refrences in this game- i find that the pseudo mechs used by the basic engineer unit ( this game's version of a settler is pretty tanky , their pistols are useless but they can heal and tune mechanical units in combat and mechanized armies will want several combat engineers ) along with clearing tiles, building roads ( no autoroading in this game but bc its a ruined world there are road networks built into spawning tiles) and founding cities

loving RA2 so far, finished the allied campaign, pure camp kino on every turn, the last mission was the only tough one id say, cheesed it with chrono legionaires zapping their nuclear power plants, so OP how allies can just reveal the whole map too
in exchange i guess soviets get the braindead to use units like apocalypse tank

>chrono legionaires zapping their nuclear power plants
Chrono legionaires are kinda bullshit ye but the nuke plants are on the side precisely so you can snipe them. And yes allies are definitely the more gimmicky technical faction and soviets are the more unga bunga raw power and stats faction. Yuri can do some stuff as soviets but outside off that it's mostly exactly what it says in the tin, big tanks and hordes of infantry
>>
>>560533282
They're balanced by being costly and slow. Welcome to old games where high tier units are actually good and not just more specialized.
>>
>>560559776
In RA2 most units are busted, like 80% of the roster can kill at least one unit type instantly and without counterplay and that's really the charm of the thing. When everything is bullshit nothing is but everything is still fun.

yeah i used em they're pretty cool but too fragile desu, they get obliberated when you attack as a group
i found their best use was just leave em ungarrisoned for anti air? so it kills the fucking v3 rockets most cancer soviet shit to face in the campaign
that and have 1-2 repair IFVs
>>
>>560560071
At least RA3 made infantry scary in large numbers, I remember infantry in RA2 being utterly shit.
>make a lot of flak cannoneers
>miss all their shots, enemy tank just drive over them
It is a bit annoying since Tesla troopers are fucking cool, but they get sniped so insanely quickly.
And then you have the brits, who zte objectively the only good Allies...
>>
>>560560361
apparently if u put seals in there they get a better mg, i didn't try that, i'll do it in yuri's later, but seals are like 1k a pop...
>>560560386
mirage tanks fry infantry really fast, they're annoying if u have anything else i guess, seals also mow em down
most underrated shit in RA2 allies at least was GIs lol, set those fuckers up to defend from a garrison, they get 3 star, they literally melt their tanks even in numbres
