Leyla Bahmany, Ph.D./D.C.L.
GENERAL COUNSEL
Dr. Leyla Bahmany is NUFDI’s General Counsel and Senior Legal Advisor to the Iran Prosperity Project. She has over a decade of experience in international arbitration, including both investment and commercial disputes, with a practice spanning the energy, mining, telecommunications, construction, and defense sectors. Her work has involved parties from North America, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. She has taught, researched, and published extensively on international arbitration and is the author of two books. Dr. Bahmany is a member of the New York State Bar and has previously practiced with leading international law firms in Paris and Dubai.
She holds a Ph.D./D.C.L. in international investment arbitration law (Passed Without Revision – Très honorable avec félicitations du jury) from the McGill University Faculty of Law, as well as a second Master’s degree in international commercial arbitration law from the same institution. She earned her first Master’s degree in international and comparative law from the George Washington University Law School, and her Bachelor of Laws (summa cum laude) from Beheshti University Faculty of Law. She speaks Persian and French and has knowledge of legal Arabic.
