A PSA About Gatekeeping and Dead Sites A PSA About Gatekeeping and Dead Sites
Mod Post

TLDR at the bottom!

Recently we have seen a massive uptick in a certain mentality around gatekeeping. For those unaware, many users in post comments and on TikTok have been recommending to keep anime streaming sites as secret as possible. When a large site does go down, we also see a lot of users posting supposed new domains and misinformation. With HiAnime going down this week, I thought it would be a good time to try and educate everyone a little more on how these things work.

Off the bat, gatekeeping is an ineffective and misdirected practice. While it’s not hard to understand where people are coming from, the truth is that sharing information about streaming sites does not effect whether or not they stay online. When a person or group decides to create and maintain a site, they are willingly undertaking the effort to openly disrespect copyright law.

Most, if not all, self-hosted sites currently available are in it for the money. They intentionally try to get as many users as possible, and are solely responsible for their own opsec and security. Large copyright holders maintain entire teams of people whose job it is to track down these sites, and they are always aware of them regardless of if users tell each other which site they personally prefer. The bottom line is that if a site bites off more than they can chew, gatekeeping it does not make a difference. Moreover, it’s become a regular issue in this subreddit, as gatekeeping in comments amounts to spam which hinders otherwise useful discussion.

On the topic of post comments, it’s been concerning how many users seem to believe anything said without a second thought. When a large/popular site does go down, without fail, people create clones of it with similar domains/names/branding in an attempt to capitalize off the established user base. These clones are never affiliated with the original, and while they may function to some degree, they should not be used. A user following best practices will not necessarily be at risk of anything by using these sites, but there is no reason to use them over better and more legitimate alternatives.

Additionally, I would like to remind users that rumors spread quick, anyone can claim to be an “official” source for websites like these, and you should always try and get your information directly from the source when possible. In the case of HiAnime, I’m specifically referring to speculation from discord about a comeback or a situation from users who, (as far as I’m aware,) are not actually HiAnime staff and do not have any special insight into the site’s operation.

What you should do in a situation like this is keep calm, check The Index for a different site/source, and move along with your day. The cycle of streaming sites has been going on for years and will likely not stop any time soon; due to the inherently risky nature of hosting their own content, sites like HiAnime should never be expected to exist forever. Even if a site never gets caught by copyright enforcement, there’s a myriad of other reasons to cease operation.

This is the trade-off you make when choosing streaming over torrenting, (or other methods,) and is one of the primary reasons more experienced users tend to recommend torrenting. It can be less convenient depending on your circumstances, but it’s much more reliable.

TLDR: Don’t gatekeep. Be skeptical of reddit comments during a big event. Keep your watch lists on mal/anilist.

I built a Stremio addon that adds Russian anime dubs from AniLibria — feedback welcome! / Я сделал аддон для Stremio с русской озвучкой аниме от AniLibria — жду отзывов!
Developer Post

Big fan of Russian anime dubs but always had to juggle between AniLibria and

Stremio separately — so I built an addon that bridges the two.

Russian dubs now show up directly in your Stremio stream picker like any other source.

─────────────────────────────────

✦ WHAT IT DOES

─────────────────────────────────

- 480p / 720p / 1080p Russian dub streams for any title in AniLibria's library

- Stream-only — zero catalog clutter, only appears when a match is found

- Smart title matching across 4 fallback steps so oddly named releases still resolve

- Auto-advances to the next episode without going back to the selection screen

- Clear geo-block message instead of hanging on a dead spinner

─────────────────────────────────

⚙ NOTES

─────────────────────────────────

Runs on Render's free tier — the very first request after inactivity can be

slow, but after that it's smooth. If a title isn't showing streams, the /debug

panel lets you trace exactly where the lookup failed.

─────────────────────────────────

“✅ APPROVED BY THE COMMUNITY”

─────────────────────────────────

The addon has been approved and published in the official Stremio Addons catalog:

https://stremio-addons.net/addons/anilibria

If you enjoyed the addon, I’d really appreciate a ⭐ on the catalog page! It helps other users discover the addon and supports the project’s development. 🙏

Stremio Addons:

─────────────────────────────────

⚙ ПРИМЕЧАНИЯ

─────────────────────────────────

Работает на бесплатном тарифе Render — первый запрос после простоя может

быть медленным, дальше всё плавно. Если тайтл не показывает стримы,

панель /debug поможет понять на каком шаге сломалось.

Watch party platform Watch party platform
Question

Hey, I like to host anime watch parties a few irl friends. I've been using Kosmi, but it's been giving me issues lately. Tried Discord too but it's a crapshoot for watch parties. I've heard good things about jellyfin servers, but I only own a laptop so I can't run a dedicated server, aside from which I like to stream from my official DVD/BluRay collection (as well as my collection obtained from sailing the seas) which I keep in hard copy. What are some other good platforms for watch parties?

Android app for streaming Anime Android app for streaming Anime
Question

Been browsing the sub searching for a thread answering my question, after going back a month or so through the threads i just gave up and i decided to just make a thread of my own.

Yes, i already looked through the wiki and other pinned resources, nothing about android apps.

I've been using dantotsu on my old phone, and when i went to their github i saw that nothing moved for 2 whole years, it looks abandoned.

So i guess my question is, is there an alternative on the market, It being opensource is a big plus and i need it to be more or less maintained on a regular basis, every couple of months is fine.

PSA: Malware on F95 and Ryuugames - Windows Defender won't catch it PSA: Malware on F95 and Ryuugames - Windows Defender won't catch it
Discussion

Found a trojan in Kimi ga Nozomu Eien ~Latest Edition~ [v1.20F], heads up to anyone who downloaded it from F95 or Ryuugames. The installation guide is identical on both sites, the files appear to be the same and share the same file size.

The malware is hidden in the plugins folder, specifically a file called afhook2.rpo. The main game files are completely clean. What makes it sneaky is that running the game in Japanese triggers absolutely no warnings. Only the patched English version activates it, which is clearly intentional to avoid detection.

VirusTotal flagged it 35/67 scanners and it uses UPX packing to disguise itself which is why so many scanners miss it. Windows Defender does not detect this at all. Only caught it with Malwarebytes.

What it does in the background: establishes outbound network connections, drops files on your system and attempts to run via rundll32.exe. Basically a remote access trojan that phones home to an external server.

If you downloaded this from either site run a Malwarebytes scan, the free version is enough. Pay special attention to plugin and patch folders.

Stay safe out there.

Edit: Added a picture of the Virus Total Scan Detection

Edit 2: Added sandbox behavior analysis showing network communications, dropped files, and MITRE ATT&CK techniques including Persistence, Privilege Escalation, Defense Evasion and Command & Control. This is not a false positive!

Is Stream Ripping still worth it? (Streamfab) Is Stream Ripping still worth it? (Streamfab)
Question

I'm getting tired of dealing with search results for Spanish dubs that have 0 seeders. My local Walmart doesn't even sell the Blu-ray copies with a Spanish dub, even though I'm CLEARLY IN PUERTO RICO!

I'm going to buy a month of Crunchyroll, ONLY 1 MONTH! I want to extract the videos from Crunchyroll with a Spanish dub so I can watch them whenever and wherever.

I keep seeing posts about Streamfab, but people have mixed experiences or just forget because they "used" to use it. Before I buy Crunchyroll, I want to be prepared with the right program for this, unless I have to resort to screen recording (which I don't really enjoy).

So, is Streamfab still working? Is it worth it? Is there anything I should know? Or are there alternatives?

Also, I've seen older posts of people just saying they haven't used it which doesn't help answer the question. And yes, I know Blu-ray exists and I can extract it, but some of the copies I have don't even have a Spanish option. I figured the only option was streaming platforms but I'm also broke.

FileBot alternative for anime? FileBot alternative for anime?
Question

I’ve been using FileBot to organize my media library and it works great for movies and TV shows, but when it comes to anime it doesn’t always behave the way I want.

Anime releases tend to have very inconsistent naming formats depending on the release group, and sometimes FileBot struggles with properly matching episodes, seasons, or specials.

What I’m mainly looking for is something that can:

  • Automatically rename anime episodes correctly

  • Handle different release group naming formats

  • Match episodes using anime databases like AniList / AniDB / MAL

  • Work well with already downloaded anime files

I know tools like Sonarr exist, but they feel a bit overkill if the goal is just organizing an existing anime library.

So I’m curious — is there a good FileBot alternative specifically for anime?
What do you guys usually use to manage and organize your anime libraries?

People give streaming sites WAAAY too much credit People give streaming sites WAAAY too much credit
Discussion

All these people do is grab torrents from nyaa and upload them in worse quality.

The true heroes of anime piracy are the people who upload said torrents.

Honestly from how nerdy reddit is I expected way more than people discussing which streaming site is best like bro all of them use torrents by Erai-raws or some group like that. All you are doing is comparing the UI really.

I highly recommend you to download these torrents as well.

weeb-cli: lightweight ad-free anime straight in your terminal – supports HiAnime, AllAnime and more weeb-cli: lightweight ad-free anime straight in your terminal – supports HiAnime, AllAnime and more
Developer Post

No browser, no ads, no distractions. Just you and an unparalleled anime viewing experience.

I built weeb-cli to watch anime the way it should be: clean, fast, and without the bloat. It's a terminal-based anime player and downloader that supports multiple sources including HiAnime, AllAnime, Animecix, Turkanime, and Anizle.

What it does

Streaming:

  • High-quality HLS/MP4 playback with MPV

  • Resume from where you left off (timestamp-based)

  • Watch history and progress tracking

  • Completed (✓) and in-progress (●) episode markers

Downloads:

  • Aria2 for multi-connection fast downloads

  • yt-dlp for complex stream support

  • Queue system with concurrent downloads

  • Resume interrupted downloads

  • Smart file naming (Anime Name - S1E1.mp4)

Local Library:

  • Auto-scan downloaded anime

  • External drive support (USB, HDD)

  • Offline anime indexing

  • Search across all sources

Extras:

  • Discord RPC integration (show what you're watching)

  • MAL/AniList tracking with OAuth

  • System notifications on download completion

  • Non-interactive JSON API for scripts and AI agents

  • Torznab server mode for Sonarr/*arr integration

Installation

pip install weeb-cli

For Arch users:

yay -S weeb-cli

Or grab a portable binary from the releases page.

Usage

Just run:

weeb-cli

For automation and scripts, there's a headless API mode:

# Search for anime
weeb-cli api search "Angel Beats"

# Get stream URLs
weeb-cli api streams 12345 --season 1 --episode 1

# Download an episode
weeb-cli api download 12345 --season 1 --episode 1 --output ./downloads

All API commands output JSON to stdout.

Sonarr Integration

If you're running Sonarr or other *arr apps, weeb-cli can act as a Torznab indexer:

pip install weeb-cli[serve]

weeb-cli serve --port 9876 \
  --watch-dir /downloads/watch \
  --completed-dir /downloads/completed \
  --sonarr-url http://sonarr:8989 \
  --sonarr-api-key YOUR_KEY

Then add http://weeb-cli-host:9876 as a Torznab indexer in Sonarr with category 5070 (TV/Anime).

Why I built this

I got tired of dealing with ad-ridden websites, pop-ups, and slow streaming. I wanted something lightweight that just works. No browser overhead, no tracking, no nonsense. Just anime in the terminal with MPV doing what it does best.

The project is open source (GPL-3.0) and built with Python. It uses SQLite for local data, supports multiple anime sources, and handles everything from streaming to downloading to tracking your progress on MAL/AniList.

Check it out

GitHub: https://github.com/ewgsta/weeb-cli

If you find it useful, drop a star on the repo. Contributions and feedback are welcome.

Anime piracy is dying Anime piracy is dying
Discussion

With the recent shut down of hianime (they might come back up), people need to understand that anime, manga, hentai piracy is dying. Especially the big library sites 😞. With all the recent censorship wave that seems to be unstoppable and the more and more aggressive shut downs in the anime industry it becomes more and more clearer that anime is changing. No more fan service and such in anime and anime gacha games and no big piracy anime, manga and hentai sites. It is sad to see that everything we love is systematically getting destroyed. And no anime, manga, hentai piracy is not like hydra. There are only so many big sites with big content and if they are gone, they are gone and it’s not like we have new big sites popping up monthly/ yearly especially not in the times we are living right now which are drastically worse then how they were 4-5 years ago regarding anime as a whole 🥲.

My experience with using Crunchyroll for the first time ever. (Spoiler: Don't use CR) My experience with using Crunchyroll for the first time ever. (Spoiler: Don't use CR)
Discussion

I'm a big anime fan, and I've watched literally hundreds of different anime and I've never paid for a single one of them. Three months ago, my cell phone plan had a deal where you could get 3 months of CR for free, so I figured "Why not?" and activated the sub. The experience was... not good, to say the least. I've written a list of some of the issues I experienced while watching anime the "legal" way.

For the record, I used CR on three different devices - my PC via the browser, the Android mobile app, and the Roku app on my 4K TV.

  1. You cannot set the streaming resolution on the Roku app. At all. There is no way to tell it to specifically stream in the highest quality (1080p for most shows, though it'll be less for older shows). If for whatever reason it thinks that your connection isn't sufficient (even if it probably is), it will silently throttle your resolution down to 480p. No notification that it's having bandwidth issues, not even anything that says "Hey we're dropping the quality because reasons". It just drops it down to 480p and hopes you won't notice (you will, because it looks like shit). The only way to fix this is to exit out of the show and then load it up again.

  2. The web app DOES let you choose the resolution... sort of... It lets you choose "Highest quality" which doesn't tell you exactly what the resolution is... and then it will sometimes do the same thing as the Roku app and drop the quality down to 480p without telling you.

  3. Buffering. Yep, it buffers from time to time. Not a whole lot, but enough that I noticed. Exiting out of the app and reloading will fix any buffering issues. And before someone says anything, yes, my connection is fine lol.

  4. Due to a bug apparently, when using the Roku app you will sometimes experience audio and video desync. This seems to be a widespread problem that's been around for quite some time, and it seems to specifically affect shows that were formerly on the Funimation app, while running CR on the Roku app. They have a troubleshooting page specifically for this issue, but none of the solutions do anything. It also ONLY happens on the Roku app, and the website and Android app are unaffected by this.

  5. You know how you can change the audio or subtitle tracks instantly in basically any media player? Yeah no, CR's player doesn't do that. If you want to change the audio or sub tracks, it has to reload the video.

  6. The video quality across every version of the app, even at 1080p, is fairly poor. Older shows in particular are often full of artifacting. It's not even a resolution issue, the encodes are just really, really terrible.

  7. In most cases, the episodes are the original TV broadcast versions, rather than the updated Bluray releases, which oftentimes will fix visual errors. Obviously you can get the improved versions when pirating, but CR never updates them.

  8. Some of the shows are censored, which is not a problem when pirating.

  9. There's only ever one subtitle track, of course, and most of CR's translators are garbage "localizers" that intentionally ruin the subs. Though unfortunately, since most fansub groups are dead these days, these awful subs are usually what you get even if you pirate - though at least sometimes you might find a group that edits and fixes CR's trash subs.

  10. It doesn't let you mark shows as finished, nor does it let you ignore shows, so you'll frequently get recommendations for shows you've either already finished watching or have no interest in at all, and there's no way to hide them.

  11. If you try and take a screenshot on the web app, you get a black screen. Fucking DRM on screenshots, are you for real?

  12. If the subtitles are incorrect or have typos, they will never get fixed. I watched like 20 shows on CR in those 3 months and I noticed typos in almost every one of those shows. Many of these shows are a few years old too, so you're telling me this big company with all of it's money and resources not only can't hire someone to proofread the subs, but can't even be bothered to fix them after release? Ridiculous.

  13. Some shows only have their subtitled version, even if a dub exists. Likewise, some shows are only available as a dub for some reason.

  14. Some shows are incomplete, without all of their seasons available. There's shows where they have the first season but not subsequent seasons or OVAs/movies, and there's even some shows where they have the sequel seasons but not the first season(s).

  15. Some shows have incorrect chapter timing, so it'll tell you that you can skip the opening or ending themes, but it'll skip chunks of the show. This happened to me on more than one occasion and I had to rewind.

  16. And if all of that wasn't enough of a reason to not subscribe to CR... they just announced a price hike! With no new features or improvements! Hahahaha, get fucked, Crunchyroll.

In summary, tl;dr: Don't use Crunchyroll. It sucks, and virtually none of these issues exist when you pirate your anime instead of giving your money to this shitty corporation.

Any sources where I can watch/download HEVC 720p anime Any sources where I can watch/download HEVC 720p anime
Question

Basically I'm totally a noob in pirating and I know this question might sound really dumb from the perspective of other members of this sub, but I have limited internet and I want to watch plenty of episodes in a decent quality, I can't seem to find any sources, atleast not the ones which provide separate download links for episodes let alone streaming. There are only 1080p HEVC links where I searched.

The index pages didn't help me much either ;(

Are there no good sites to pirate Visual Novels or eroge from? Most sites don't work at all Are there no good sites to pirate Visual Novels or eroge from? Most sites don't work at all
Question

I have been looking everywhere to download eroge and regular v/n's. Most I have found like ryuugames are filled with ads or all of the download links don't work, I've looked on F95zone but they don't have too much of a variety and its mainly a porn site anyways so..

I'm looking for novels like Higurashi, Song of Saya, Nekopara, Subahibi, Saihate Station, CLANNAD, Umineko no Naku Koro ni Chiru, yadda yadda you get the gist of it i just need nontorrenting sites blablabla

I'll provide names that don't work for me (i can't download off of mega bc it takes forever or freezes up on a certain percent)

Ryuugames - everytime i click i get directed to some other site and all of the links are broken. From what i heard it used to be good 5 years ago, now you have to pay to get into their discord server or something?? odd.

erogedownload - only has one option and you can only download twice before waiting 10mins to download again. only allows 500mb downloads maximum too, otherwise you'll be downloading in parts and that will take foreeevverrr

lemmasoft(dot)renai(dot)us - It works and has a TON of vn's but it doesn't have a search bar. too lazy to look through

vgperson - doesn't have a wide variety

Otomi-games - I have the feeling on some novels it works but I tried to download Nekopara and all of the links on it were broken

cpgrepacks - not a wide variety (looked up Saya no Uta, didnt have it. even tried Song of Saya)

Most of these sites are probably old and need to be updated (hence why they don't work.) But it would be nice if i could possibly get some sites that actually work to download visual novels.)

Actual OST and full OP/ED sites? Actual OST and full OP/ED sites?
Question

I've found some posts here that are very old like 3-5 years ago and it's been getting harder to find new anime music sites to get stuff from

Since Hikaronoakari's death and seeing how Sukidesuost has stopped updating since the end of the MY HERO ACADEMIA anime, along with kazvampires, it's been getting hard to find nowadays' updated sites

Someone mentioned Osanime but someone else mentioned that if ya enter the site you get virus'd so i'd rather not touch it

I tried searching for the newest FIRE FORCE (Ennen No Shouboutai)'s actual ending but without luck

This one to prevent confusion https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4NHzOOWEaY0

So i wanted to ask what are the actual SAFE TO ENTER (Virus free) sites with updated OSTs etc?. I use uBlock Origin btw but just in case...

Requesting Help: Can someone with a Nyaa.si account upload our Code Geassdub? Requesting Help: Can someone with a Nyaa.si account upload our Code Geassdub?
Question

Hello everyone,

I'm a huge fan of Code Geass, and for the past few months, my friends (who are amateur voice actors) and I have poured our hearts into creating a full fandub of the movie "Lelouch of the Re;surrection" in Brazilian Portuguese.

Our goal was always to share it with the community, and we've prepared a high-quality, dual-audio MKV file (PT-BR Fandub + Original Japanese) and created the .torrent file for it.

The problem is, we were planning to upload it to Nyaa.si, but we just found out that new user registrations and anonymous uploads are disabled. We don't have an account and have no way to share it there.

Would anyone with an active Nyaa.si account be willing to help us by uploading it on our behalf?

I can provide you with:

* The .torrent file (hosted on a temporary link for you to download).

* A pre-written, detailed markdown description for the upload page.

We've put a lot of work into this and just want fellow fans to be able to enjoy it. I'll be seeding the file 24/7 from my end to make sure it gets distributed.

Thank you so much for reading and for any help you can offer!

edit: I found someone guys, thanks for making this post visible to everyone!

Bluray mini vs 1080p webdl Bluray mini vs 1080p webdl
Question

Working on setting up my arr stack and had a question about quality differences here. For my favorite shows, I download them in Bluray REMUX (6gig or so per episode). For other great shows I grab them in Bluray and look for releases by sam, vodes, mtbb, etc.

Now for the rest I’m trying to figure out of ember/judas x265 BD mini encodes are better or if I should just be going for varyg 1080p webdl.

Thanks for the help in advance! (I have a 4k tv and am buying an OLED monitor if that makes any difference).

PS: How come in comparison screenshots people put out I can never tell the difference? Am I blind or is it my monitor or phone can’t display the difference? Example being this: https://slow.pics/c/eFqoNhQL

Re the Bato shutdown narrative Re the Bato shutdown narrative
Drama

Twice already, Bato Discord mod has spread misinformation claiming the site was shutting down, when in reality it was just their Discord server that got purged.

The recent “Bato shutdown” narrative was likely taken out of context and amplified by Discord mods. Keep in mind, the Bato Discord was never an official server, and these mods have little to no contact with the actual developers—meaning they are not in a position to speak for the site at all. A similar situation already happened late last year except this time at a larger scale.

On top of that, the xbat redirect happened on the same day Bato went down, and an ICANN lookup shows the domain was registered that same day.

The earlier downtime was most likely used to fix broken parts of the site while rebranding.

Further on the recent downtime, accessing Bato through one of the V4 mirrors redirected users to the xbatcat landing page showing “under maintenance.”

EDIT BECAUSE I FORGOT TO HIGHLIGHT: THE SITE IS BACK AND GOT REBRANDED.

EDIT2: Seems like the redirect only happens to mihon user who access v4 mirror using WebView. Please refer to r/mangapiracy for site name as someone already posts about it there.

Th3-Anime Streaming App - Need your feedbacks to make it better Th3-Anime Streaming App - Need your feedbacks to make it better
Developer Post

Hey everyone!

Since Anilab removed its internal player and now requires SPlayer as an external app to watch content, I decided to start building my own alternative.

The goal is to create an app with a similar UI/design and a built-in video player but completely ad-free, with a strong focus on smooth performance and a great user experience.

Th3-Anime will feel familiar like Anilab, but with more features and improvements.

Features:

  • HD Quality Streaming – Fast streaming in both SUB and DUB

  • Daily Updates – Stay up to date with the latest episodes

  • Smooth Streaming – Optimized playback with minimal buffering

  • Custom Favorites – Build and manage your personal anime collection

  • In-App Downloading – Download episodes directly inside the app (no external apps required) for offline viewing

I’ll continue improving the app and adding new features based on your suggestions and requests.

The project is still in its early stages, but I’m actively working on it and planning to release the first version later this month.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask. Suggestions and feedback are always welcome!

Batoto / Mangapark shutting down Batoto / Mangapark shutting down
Discussion

batoto/ mangapark websites haven't been working properly since last year. what appeared to be technical issues and an absent (MIA) developer/ operator at first, is a large scale legal operation against the website(s) and everyone connected to them.
3 or 4 days ago the discords for mangapark and batoto have been nuked, as well as batoto twitter.

the domains stopped working at all or have been blocked by isps worldwide (i never came across a website blocked by my isp before this)

some of the domains may be still accessible by now but the images are mostly broken/ won't load. the project is abandoned technically and slowly decays til its gone completely (like it happened with goganime/ anitaku)

the swiftly setup new batoto discord will be closed in two or three days, cutting all ties with batoto. (EDIT as of 20.01.2026 its closed already)

according to staff there will be no legacy project. only a new unaffiliated server to keep parts of the community together for discussions and staying in touch with friends from the old server.

some of the staff members will quit entirely and move away because the staff/ mods in discord/reddit seem to have been targeted as well as the operator.

A well known publisher came after all the mods and is using scare tactics to try and destroy our community.

i assume its kakao. this would fit their MO
i once saw a published c&d letter from them. it was written in a way to scare the person it was directed to by mentioning things like the company the recipient worked for at this time. this does not belong in such a document and only aims to say : we know where you live and work and we will ruin your carreer.

I made a tool that automatically detects anime OP/ED and generates MKV chapters I made a tool that automatically detects anime OP/ED and generates MKV chapters
Developer Post

Hi everyone,

I wanted to share a small project I’ve been working on recently and get some feedback from the community.

I built a tool called AniChapters that automatically detects anime openings and endings and generates MKV chapters for episodes.

The idea is simple: instead of manually setting chapters for every episode, the program analyzes the audio and detects where the opening and ending start, then creates proper MKV chapters automatically.

What it does

  • Detects anime openings (OP) and endings (ED) automatically

  • Uses audio analysis to locate the exact timestamp

  • Generates MKV chapter files

  • Works with most WEB-DL / WEBRip releases

  • Uses theme data from animethemes

Example chapters generated

00:00:00 → OP
00:01:30 → Episode
00:22:45 → ED
00:24:00 → End

Why I made it

I watch a lot of anime locally and like having proper chapters in my files.
Manually creating chapters for every episode is really tedious, so I wanted to automate the process.

Current status

The tool is working but still a work in progress, so I would really appreciate feedback, ideas, or suggestions from people who work with anime files or encoding.

If anyone wants to try it or give suggestions on improvements, I’d love to hear your thoughts.

Thanks!

Should I move away from hianime? Should I move away from hianime?
Question

I'm sure anyone who has used Hianime, has noticed that the site is getting filled with bots and random comments, which I don't mind what I really mind is the experience I'm looking for a better alternative i tried to use AnimeKai but the watermark was killing me Is there any other side with good collection, good streaming (I'm in Iran so most of the streaming option just don't work), and also preferably a download option.

Is there anything even close to the og Aniwave it was in my opinion perfect I'm looking for something like that.

Torrent vs Crunchyroll Color differences Torrent vs Crunchyroll Color differences
Question

I am noob, so asking a simple question don’t get mad

So I am watching MHA S07 AND I DOWNLOADED A TORRENT named Yameii MHA S07E01 CR Web-DL of 1.3GB but I also have a Crunchyroll subscription so I compared both the videos and there are colour difference between both and the outline of characters is slightly darker on Crunchyroll , if the torrent file is from Crunchyroll why there are differences??

I have checked multiple Torrent and compared it and see the same result

Aniyomi episode updates feel oddly manual Aniyomi episode updates feel oddly manual
Question

I’ve been using Anilab for over a year, but recently it removed the in-app player and started forcing SPlayer. That alone was enough of a deterrent to push me toward Aniyomi. I’ve got anime and manga set up and working, so I understand the basics, but one thing is really throwing me off.

Episodes don’t seem to update automatically. Even with everything enabled in settings > library, new episodes only show up if I manually refresh each individual anime. Refreshing the whole library doesn’t do anything.

I’m not sure if I’m missing something obvious or if that’s just how Aniyomi works. Right now it’s keeping me stuck between apps, because both feel annoying in different ways. And since I still need SPlayer for Onstream, I can’t fully ditch it anyway. Cloudstream didn’t really click for me either.

Real-debrid + stremio, really the silver bullet? Real-debrid + stremio, really the silver bullet?
Discussion

Have heard tons of praise and recommendation for this setup.

I was first planning on setting up jellyfin and use it stream to iphone + PC but hard drives prices skyrocketed so that plan is in limbo. I saw everyone recommending above, and from what I've seen, besides having a local library and a subscription to pay for, this is basically same quality as that of torrents. I tried looking up on the wiki for more info, but there's no mention of "streaming torrents" per se. Any reason why wiki omits it? Because it's a fantastic knowlege base otherwise.

I already have Crunchyroll, so it's really for BD releases and old stuff, not for weekly if that matters.

Need a fast-loading free anime site that doesn’t drop quality

Need a fast-loading free anime site that doesn’t drop quality
Question

Hey everyone, I need a little help here.

I’m from India and I’m planning to get back into watching anime again. I actually stopped watching for about a month because of a really annoying issue I’ve been facing for the last 3–4 months.

Whenever I watch anime on sites like HiAnime, Anikoto, AnimeFlix, or 9anime, the episode starts fine but after about 5 minutes it begins to lag badly, and sometimes it just stops loading completely.

And it’s not my internet. I have decent Wi-Fi, and even when I switch to 5G data the same thing happens. The only way I can keep watching without interruptions is by dropping the quality all the way down to 360p, which honestly ruins the experience.

So I wanted to ask if anyone here knows any free anime sites that load fast but still keep good video quality. If you’ve had a similar issue or know a site that works well from India, I’d really appreciate the recommendation. 🙏

Most Accurate and Best Quality Torrent Subtitle Group Most Accurate and Best Quality Torrent Subtitle Group
Question

What are some groups that consistently have accurate translations with relatively less localization? Also what are those with the best quality? Should I always go for those that take up the most storage? Im quite new to torrenting

Also, where can I get information on what viewers have rated the best subtitles for a specific anime? A lot of the times on anidb the ratings are not clear compared to older shows

Made a Crunchyroll ripper with DRM decryption Made a Crunchyroll ripper with DRM decryption
Developer Post

Hi,

Got bored so I made a Go program to download anime from Crunchyroll, which supports:

  • Choosing audio/video quality

  • Audio/subtitles languages

  • Output in a MKV container file

  • Decrypting Widevine DRM (it requires a .wvd file tho)

Note that it requires a Crunchyroll Premium account but it should work with free trials

You can check it at https://github.com/CuteTenshii/crunchyroll-downloader

The reason torrenting is better which no one talks about The reason torrenting is better which no one talks about
Discussion

I see all these comments on here about "why would you ever torrent, just use a website". Those people have never had a 50kbps internet connection. I can barely load the streaming sites because of all the ads and "community" features like the comments. Torrenting a season might take 20 hours, but I just leave it overnight and it's smooth high bitrate playback, without shitty sub styling. Honestly I wouldn't even go back if I had high speed at this point.
(also, mpv > vlc)

How can I change the font of .ass subtitles of anime from ugly ass font use by crunchyroll? How can I change the font of .ass subtitles of anime from ugly ass font use by crunchyroll?
Question

I need a proper workflow for this.

I want to change the font style of an anime I’m currently watching. Since many major fansub and release groups have disbanded, it’s been difficult to find high-quality releases with good typesetting and styling.

One major issue is the default Arial-style font used in the subtitles — it looks ugly and isn’t very reader-friendly.

I’m aware of Aegisub, but that’s about it. Could someone explain the proper workflow for editing .ass subtitle fonts? Any detailed guidance would be appreciated.

BULK DOWNLOAD ! BULK DOWNLOAD !
Question

I’ve noticed that a lot of bulk anime downloading discussions here are either very old or scattered across different threads, often referencing tools or workflows that don’t seem to be maintained anymore. I went through The Index and a few wiki links and found several general approaches, but I’m curious how people are handling this now, especially with larger libraries and newer seasonal releases.

Specifically, I’m interested in workflows rather than step-by-step hand-holding. For example: whether people prefer torrent-based setups with automation, direct download managers paired with certain index sites, or media server pipelines that integrate downloading and organization in one place. I’m also curious how people balance convenience, file quality, and long-term storage.

Not asking for a beginner guide or links dumped with no context. I’m more interested in hearing what setups people here actually use in practice in 2025–2026, what’s held up over time, and what’s no longer worth bothering with.

If this has been covered recently and I missed it, feel free to point me to the relevant thread.

How can I burn torrent downloads to Blu Ray with all audio and subs tracks intact? How can I burn torrent downloads to Blu Ray with all audio and subs tracks intact?
Question

I am new to anime and have downloaded mkvs of all JJK episodes. They play perfectly on computer with a choice of either Japanese audio or English dub, and 2/3 sets of English ASS subtitles both for speech but also English translations of books/papers/texts in the movie plus song lyrics. I generally prefer the original voices to the American dubs.

I'd like to burn to blu ray but my regular ConvertXtoHD app crashes due, I think, to some of the subtitles, possibly the overlay set. I've tried a couple of other apps on Mac and PC but none seems able to manage the multiple audio and subs. Never encountered this before.

I've tried demuxing the streams and converting to MP4 but anything that does succeed involves losing the full feature set.

Presumably, if I buy the commercial BD it retains these features, so why can't I burn the same from the stream?

Any ideas welcomed!

is AI okay for fan translations? is AI okay for fan translations?
Question

I know people are upset with crunchyroll for using AI with their subs, but is using chatgpt for fan subs going to come out looking really that bad? I have a project of nine films that i'm doing by myself, where i'm changing the subs from French to English. I don't speak French, and I cant find any official translators to work on it, so i'm kind of stuck using chatgpt. Is chatgpts translations that noticeably bad?

Question for UK anime watchers regarding age verification and anime piracy Question for UK anime watchers regarding age verification and anime piracy
Discussion

So in the EU and especially in Germany we will soon have to verify our ages in order to gain access to specific sites, twitch, discord etc. I know in the UK this law has already been passed down for a few months now. My question is do you guys still have access to the pirate sites ? To the anime, manga, hentai sites or have most sites been completely blocked by your country or need a age verification. I think we all know about which anime, manga and hentai sites I am talking about. Also has this changed which anime’s are allowed to watch for you guys ? So basically more censorship, less fan servicable anime beeing allowed to watch etc, beeing censored and such. Sorry for the many questions since I am afraid of the new law and what this will mean for my beloved anime, manga, hentai etc. 😞
