Sounds like code. From a private investigator. Exposing an affair between Sarah and a speedo wearing man. They rendevouz near the Mountain Dew cooler at Target because kayaking down the Susquehanna sure is thirsty work.

[–]MadameWeb[S] 76 points77 points  (2 children)

I think you nailed it

[–]Tacos_always_corny 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Is that Kayak pink by chance?

[–]brittleknight 36 points37 points  (0 children)

According to my friend, corporate said there is several of these letters being sent to many targets. With slight variations in each.

[–]ClubJed 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Love me some Susquehanna River. York pa here

[–]pnwmetalhead666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thirsty in more than one way if they are secretly snuggling.

[–]iamtwatwaffle 199 points200 points  (41 children)

Hey guys…? https://www.reddit.com/r/RBI/s/vuW32XayOZ

Edit: Hiwasse river is in Tennessee and Susquehanna river is in Pennsylvania.

[–]MadameWeb[S] 122 points123 points  (5 children)

Wait this is exactly the same and postmarked from the same place. These photos also have large 11s on the back we thought were just lines???

[–]iamtwatwaffle 76 points77 points  (1 child)

I really want you and the user in that post to make a collective pot with all photos in RBI. If you don’t I might just because this is so freaking weird dude. You two are the only ones I can find, so far, on Reddit with this experience.

[–]Witchgrass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]iamtwatwaffle 32 points33 points  (0 children)

The lines are protecting the date and location that the photos were printed from. That’s what one redditor said. It makes sense

[–]Long-Cantaloupe1761 3 points4 points  (0 children)

See if you can take the 11s off with some alcohol. My only concern with that is if there is a date printed on and not thermal printed it might also come off

[–]MadameWeb[S] 38 points39 points  (10 children)

So now assuming they are looking up random targets and searching rivers nearby and then writing whatever river fits the geographic location??? This is soo weird? I need to meet this person.

[–]willywonderbucks 27 points28 points  (9 children)

Yours also has the word "boomerang" misspelled. The other one doesn't. That and the river are the only differences I noticed.

[–]BaronVonWilmington 10 points11 points  (8 children)

Well that and the other batch has only the yellow highlighter, this has cyan and pink as well

[–]willywonderbucks -4 points-3 points  (7 children)

I was just talking about the spelling, but ok.

[–]BaronVonWilmington 6 points7 points  (6 children)

True, but you must admit that highlighting in one color on the first letter and three distinct colors on the subsequent letter is a choice.

[–]willywonderbucks -5 points-4 points  (5 children)

I must admit it? I never denied it.

[–]TrashMonkeyByNature 12 points13 points  (4 children)

Just admit it already!

[–]willywonderbucks -2 points-1 points  (3 children)

Would you like a formal acknowledgment printed on company letterhead explaining the circumstances around admission and a detailed summary of events, in addition to a signature?

[–]TrashMonkeyByNature 4 points5 points  (1 child)

Yes, thank you.

Sincerely, Management

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Fucking provide it all

[–][deleted] 20 points21 points  (1 child)

Damn that was a rabbit hole

[–]iamtwatwaffle 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It’s bizarre

[–]Dino_Boy02 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is so incredibly bizarre

[–]CrimsonFatalis8 23 points24 points  (5 children)

So, whoever this is, has an obsession with women named Sarah, kayaking down rivers, Mountain Dew, and goggles from target?

I wonder if it’s coded language for potential serial killings. Maybe the Mtn Dew is code for some kind of chemical or poison. And they seem to put emphasis on the goggles staying on while “vigorously kayaking”, which leads me to believe that they mean they’ll stay on even when whoever is wearing them is shaken hard.

Maybe they poison or drug women (“Mountain Dew”?), possibly named Sarah for whatever reason, and violently strangle or drown them in a nearby river (“vigorously kayaking”?). And the last sentence is a coded message for where they’re located.

[–]iamtwatwaffle 16 points17 points  (3 children)

That’s what I’m thinking, like yes maybe it’s a prank. But what if it’s not? Target says they have received similar letters from other people like this letter. It’s weird as of why. Also why specify Mountain Dew in the refrigerated section? Then different rivers? Why didn’t the letter writer mention the car in the letter?

[–]Tacos_always_corny 5 points6 points  (2 children)

Isn't that a dealer window sticker on the back right.

[–]iamtwatwaffle 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Either dealer or car show, but it’s Nissan logos on the wall which screams dealer like you said

[–]Tacos_always_corny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look at that rather large hulking guy following the girl with the bag.

[–]ClubJed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well they find bodies in the Susquehanna a lot so you could be right

[–]Sooopphhia 7 points8 points  (0 children)

that's beyond creepy

[–]EsperInk 11 points12 points  (1 child)

I’m scared??

[–]Sea-Blueberry-1840 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So am I. This is messed up

[–]paleblood0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Holy fuck

[–]he-loves-me-not 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Anyone tag u/brittleknight yet??

[–]iamtwatwaffle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I talked to them, just just said target has gotten notice about the letters and that was all the said to me in dm

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (6 children)

omg

[–]iamtwatwaffle 4 points5 points  (5 children)

No one has figured out the car yet. Also in the letter in that post, the letter says Hiawassee (whatever) River. Not the river in this letter

[–]iamtwatwaffle 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Jk it may be a 2006 Toyota Matrix XR Sport Wagon 4D

[–]willywonderbucks 5 points6 points  (3 children)

The word "boomerang" is also misspelled in this one. It's not in the other.

[–]iamtwatwaffle 8 points9 points  (2 children)

Both also say sale specifically and not sell which is weird, that at least seems purposeful? The one I found is from ≈264 days ago I think. Do you think boomeramg was an accident or purposeful?

[–]willywonderbucks 7 points8 points  (1 child)

So my original thought was that this was computer printed text, and they just chose some weird font, but seeing the other letter confirms that is not the case, which honestly makes it even weirder. Someone is writing these out by hand? And why? I would assume that the misspelling is a mistake, but then again, I don't understand any reason for any of this.

[–]Margali 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is reasonably close to what I used to do for blueprints. When I opt for neatness my annotation hand comes out like a stencil

[–]Royalchariot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Holy shit

[–]Starscream147 54 points55 points  (5 children)

The sheer penmanship

[–]ninsthebeans 26 points27 points  (4 children)

I think it's machine-written. I've used a Cricut to write holiday cards before, and the even pressure in the ink looks the same, plus the consistency of the upper and lower case T's.

[–]MadMadamNiece 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is actually brilliant. It looks similar to one of the stock fonts available on cricut design space.

[–]Mister_Goldenfold 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was going to imply the calligraphy pen skills used 👌🏽

[–]TerrisBranding 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some of the letters don't look the same though. Like one lowercase s had a noticeably larger curve on the top than another.

[–]ASPD7 39 points40 points  (1 child)

[–]Mister_Goldenfold 14 points15 points  (0 children)

[–]Clear-Ad-6812 26 points27 points  (0 children)

[–]Redjeepkev 23 points24 points  (4 children)

Damn they send you spam in your REAL MAILBOX now???!

[–]FeelingSoil39 23 points24 points  (2 children)

I’m guessing you weren’t alive before the aol. lol. Spam totally started the first moment there became a postal system lmao

[–]Redjeepkev 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Oh yes I was alive LONG before AOL. Lol. But I never received anything like that in my mailbox.

[–]FeelingSoil39 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Oh gosh no this is a whole other level of (see my other post) donkey balls deep of weird af lol

[–]Mister_Goldenfold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was thinking the same thing. It’s like those random mumbo jumbo emails you get that make zero sense lol!

[–][deleted] 33 points34 points  (6 children)

I live at the end of the Susquehanna and will keep an eye out for her.

C’mon, Smokes!

[–]ClubJed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

York pa here

[–]bugzcar 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Did somebody signed up for one of things I always see advertisements, like “do you like solving mysteries?” And then forget they did? The two vertical lines thing is interesting, like they line up somewhere and reveal something. Or they represent the river.

[–]hmflaherty3 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I looked at this and instantly thought, submerged car with woman inside. I watch too many crime shows.

[–]AccomplishedGrass739 9 points10 points  (3 children)

At first I thought they were both printed. Sometimes I will get mail that appears handwritten from companies trying to show their customers they ‘take the time’ or whatever but it is obviously printed. These letters look almost like that at first. I took screen shots of the letters from here and the rbi subreddit to compare. It looks like someone written, by hand, each and put effort into making them look identical. Like, look at ‘goggles’ and ‘around’ on both pictures. Exactly the same. There are a few areas where stuff doesn’t line up the same and there are letter thickness variations between the two. I am not saying it means anything, it just seems extra weird that they wrote it.

<image>

[–]AccomplishedGrass739 8 points9 points  (1 child)

The other photo

<image>

[–]Ahhbugg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Look at boomerrang on both letters. This one is spelt wrong with a M!

[–]Mister_Goldenfold 24 points25 points  (1 child)

<image>

Maybe?

[–]Quiet_Entertainer982 8 points9 points  (0 children)

$22????? GAH DAYUM! I'd do it for half that price, and much weirder.

Seriously though, that's interesting to see. The ideas people come up with things to craft and sell never ceases to amaze me.

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sounds like an ad prompt or showing mismatched image data or something. No clue why it would be sent via snail mail though.

[–]FeelingSoil39 10 points11 points  (2 children)

So… not for nothing (because this shit is donkey balls deep weird) but from what I understand a lot of times the instructions for devices and assembly directions or advertisement are often typed up by somebody working for a larger institution as part of a learning program to help them learn English (students, interns = free labour) Hence why these are often phrased poorly. This reminds me of that. Except it’s as if they were told to copy the random phrases by hand to learn penmanship and literary format. But that it was actually sent to an employee of target is a fucking riot.

OR: an AI has finally built itself a body and is trying it out

OR: this is your first clue. Let The Game begin!!

[–]iamtwatwaffle 2 points3 points  (1 child)

I like the third option, sounds fun 😂

[–]FeelingSoil39 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Twas a great movie 🍿 🎥

[–]DesignOwn3977 2 points3 points  (2 children)

I'm getting obsessive compulsive religious vibes from this. The t's are very pronounced and resemble crosses.

[–]Lostbronte 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I’ve known many Christian zealots, some sane, some less so, and they mostly had tight, cramped handwriting suggestive of restraint and introversion. The Some of them wrote in all caps, unevenly, if they were more extroverted. But nothing, ever, that was this round, large and symmetical. It does look like it was made on a Cricut.

[–]DesignOwn3977 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The writing is careful and childlike. Whoever wrote this is mentally handicapped and has OCD. I did not mention Christian zealots or anything of that nature.

[–]Clear-Impact3241 8 points9 points  (3 children)

Just to clarify, this was sent to the address of the Target he works for and not his private address, right?

As there is this other Target who has received it as well my assumption is that there is some mentally ill or disabled girl named Sarah that just wants to let Target‘s all over America know about her hobby and attaches not only a picture of the goggles but also a nice car she photographed at a car show. If the letter was send to the address of Target and not his private one, maybe there is no harmful intention.

[–]brittleknight 11 points12 points  (1 child)

This is what Target corporate currently believes. Yes the letter we received was at the store. So maybe it is just mental illness. Its creepy. And corporate told my friend there are several other locations with slight variations in the letter that have received them. They implied for years..

[–]Actual-Newt-2984 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reminds me of the wikipedia vandals that will edit one article for years

[–]Tacos_always_corny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look at that hulking dude walking up behind Sarah...

[–]laladybee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You need to contact Atlanta police department! The other letter was also sent from there so it's best they have it on record. Definitely weird and there is probably more been sent

[–]ClubJed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Susquehanna River, damn, well hello neighbor

[–]retardrabbit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Edit: I replied to the wrong thread!

I tried decoding the bar code, could only get the last 27/65 digits from the image with the red reaction of the address (that chopped off half the valuable barcode)

 ADAAFDADAFDDTFTDTDTTFTDADFTT

That processing center (302) in the postmark, up top, is new.

New Atlanta GA Regional Processing & Distribution Center Goes Live February 24, 2024

The new Atlanta GA RPDC (NASS Code 302RP; Locale Key: 020303) is located at 600 Palmetto Logistics Pkwy, Palmetto GA, 30268-9991

Here's the details of what it took over from other RPDC nearby centers. That gives you possible source zip codes for the letters.

Too bad we don't have better images.

[–]CalibineRiviere 2 points3 points  (0 children)

u/brittleknight got the same one

[–]CanIBuyUrSocks 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Target is doing some pretty interesting stuff to get people excited about their deals

[–]SomePancakes4me 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Do you by any chance lives near the Susquehanna river ?

Edit, I ask because there’s a Target like a mile or less away from the river in Selinsgrove PA. There’s been many deaths associated with swimming/ kayaking in it

I'd be the worst detective. 🤣 I am so confused. One of those mail order mystery letters????

[–]Accomplished_Tone669 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is it maybe an English lesson assignment that shouldn’t have actually made it in the mail?.. maybe that part got lost in actual translation? lmao

[–]Starfall0 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Am I the only one that can't suspend my disbelief enough because of how obviously fake the image is? It stands out so much its not even a conscience thought. Is this entertaining for people or are bots just responding randomly to other bots?

[–]InsertRadnomNameHere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought I was the only one. Its clearly AI generated or something. The text is too crisp.

[–]Flat-Counter-425 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can clearly see it was written in fine tip sharpie by somebody with good handwriting. It is not printed as you can see the sharpie bleed out in several of the letters. Additionally, another person on reddit posted their target receiving the same thing (before this post) and while it seems like they’re mimicking a font there were discrepancies that show it was clearly handwritten.

No, it’s not bots, it’s people with eyeballs lol. It is so clearly not printed, it’s just extremely neat.

The T for example in the first line is clearly not printed and was drawn over to make it neater. If you look at all the e’s or o’s in the letter you can see discrepancies and bleeding in certain areas from the sharpie.

[–]heffred -2 points-1 points  (2 children)
