Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use your music in my stream / video?
Short answer: Yes! Just please credit my name and the track title(s) you use. Longer answer: I strongly believe in the fair use of music and strive to never have my music involved in automatic copyright strikes. If you receive one of these on your channel, please understand that it is likely because of some outside force & not me personally demonetizing you. Because of some of my music’s popularity, artists have stolen my work or sampled it and uploaded it to distributors that automatically place it into content ID systems, which then falsely claim copyright on tracks I wrote. These cases are taken care of on the back end & will eventually be resolved!
Can I release a cover or remix of one of your pieces?
Is it available for free? Yes! I love seeing how people arrange my music and I’ll always allow covers, remixes & arrangements of music I compose. Is it monetized? Also yes! But please use a music licensing service such as Easy Song Licensing, or those integrated into distributors such as Soundrop. I get too many requests to handle these personally, so these services do all the background work to make it easier on both of us.
What software do you use to compose music?
Short answer: I compose using Ableton Live & use a large variety of virtual instruments and software synths that I often record myself in my home studio. Longer answer: I wrote a very detailed blog post about exactly this! Check it out:
Can I interview you for my high school class or college course?
Please understand that if I had an infinite amount of time to answer every single email I get, I would love to connect with everyone that has ever reached out to me. Every time my music touches someone enough to inspire them to pursue music of their own, it means the world to me. Unfortunately, as a socially awkward recluse, I have a hard time responding to every email I get. It’s a lot!! In lieu of that, however, please search for interviews that I’ve done with various outlets! Most of the common questions I get asked are addressed there in detail so, even if it’s not a personal reply, please let my answers in those other formats help fill in the gaps of your curiosity, or your teacher’s assignment.
