Chris Chan: A Comprehensive History

Y'all, I got some bad news and some news. So I've been harping on about this remastered Blu-ray thing for a while, and I've just now learned from the disk making place (cuz im an idiot and thought i could do it) that what I'm asking for is not possible. I can't put up to 50GB of videos onto a 50GB disk complete with a menu and playable on a Blu-ray player. There's a time limit of about 3 hours, which would mean the set would be 35+ disks which is simply ridiculously unfeasible for me. The only other option is to make a data disk of the videos that would be readable on a PC like an external HDD, but then you'd need a Blu-ray optical drive, which I doubt most of you have. So I guess I have to put the kibosh on the whole Blu-ray thing. However, I have softly revealed that I will put out the remastered series (SFW version, same as YT) on Patreon. I will also leave Google Drive links to the NSFW alternatives in the descriptions of the videos. These will all be uploaded within the next few days and you'll be able to view all 85 remastered CC:ACH episodes as VODs on Patreon. The tier is not set up yet, and will be my steepest tier yet. If you're not in the mood for that, I will also be uploading the remastered series right here on YouTube, one by one, on a weekly basis. Each remastered upload will effectively replace the old versions, which will be branded [OLD VERSION], unlisted one by one, and placed into an [OLD VERSION] playlist on this channel. If I maintain a weekly schedule, the complete remastered Season 1 will be fully up on YouTube in about 85 weeks, and from which point, I intend to continue with Part 86, 87, and so on. Supporting by getting your name in the end credits will also return with this scheme. So this is me now, I sincerely apologize for mistakenly making people believe the Blu-ray situation was a possibility, but I hope we can make a compromise this way. Stay safe and have a good day. --Chris Chan: A Comprehensive History

Give us the 35 disc Blu-ray set

Chris drinking from a comically large straw with his 35 disk bluray in hand

if iโ€™ve learnt anything about Christorians, itโ€™s that weโ€™re willing to spend money on shit we probably shouldnโ€™t. Drop the 35 disk set and youโ€™ll make your money back in hours.

Dude, it wasn't even on you! No worries, it was a valiant effort. But we all know Sonichu entered our realm, put a blockade on all of the videos being transferred onto Blu-Ray by means of a curse-you-hame-ha, and then left... it happens. Appreciate the update.
That's too bad, I was really looking forward to the box set lol

Oh damn the series is continuing? Ig Chirs is still living, so it probably would wouldnt it...

Understand why you don't want to do it anymore but I would buy the 35 disk set. I think a few of us would
15
Thatโ€™s understandable geno! Iโ€™m hoping to join the Patreon one day so thatโ€™ll be something to look forward to. Have a nice day dude!

I had actually put 300 USD aside a year or two ago as the Chris Chan BluRay fund. To be fair even pushing 20 disks would be humorous but 35+ does sound problematic

Have you tried calling whoever the console patron unit of Blu-Ray players is? Chris probably knows them. Iโ€™m sure they could work something out for you.

It might be worth looking into, but I think there are higher capacity blu ray discs. I have several that have over 23 hours packed onto a single disc, with complete menus, and which are fully playable on my blu ray players. So it's definitely possible, but I don't know what kind of blu ray disc it is.
2
Geno acting like we wouldn't buy 35 disks make em collectors editions with sonichu art on it and I will proudly put them up

85 weeks? My man, you're going to beat Eric Bischoff!

I cannot fathom how much the 35 disc set would cost to manufacture in bulk, let alone what it would cost for a viewer to purchase and the uncertainty of how many people would purchase the set to make a profit. Can't blame you for deciding against it. Looking forward to the remaster.

Is it possible to get it onto streaming like Tubi? Think of the traction!

THIS IS DEAD SERIOUS

Understandable! Excited to see the remaster and looking forward to season 2
You should give people the option to get the 35 disc set, regardless of how ridiculous is is.
Darn, I was actually really looking forward to the Blu-ray release, but I understand if that isn't feasible for you, Geno. That being said, I would absolutely drop the cash for a 35 disk set.
Really appreciate what you did with the series in a whole. Just an idea for ya maybe do a top chris clips for 6hrs and have a duel disk set in one box for sale. Id buy that!

What about uploading video podcasts to Spotify? I know the audio version is on there, but is there a way to layer the video on top?

I own the original Twilight Zone series, it's 25 discs. Truthfully if you make it we will buy it, as your loyal acolytes.
I would buy a 35 disc Blu-ray set twice and I'm not even kidding
The 35 disc blu ray set would cost hundreds to buy, I understand why you wouldn't want to make that.

This sounds awesome. Will the new series be copyright? I've always wanted to watch the comprehensive series with a live audience but can't.
Has Geno retired continuing the series? I know we're in new CWC sagas now and it's not really history.
The freaks of the internet (myself included) and physical media addicts (again, myself included) would eat up a 35 disc set. Price would not scare us away.
I'll be up all night with you if I have to.

Iโ€™m working on it!

What's different about the remastered videos? Are they slightly rewritten or re-edited? Also, highly looking forward to the continuation of this series. Ik, the recent brony-con banning HAS to be documented.

FIX GENOโ€™S DISCS NOW SEGA

Okay one last suggestion- vhs tapes? I feel like that might even be better.

But... Why?
You could do an animated Sonichu "parody" (cough, cough) on Blu ray instead. Even if it's just one disc with the couple of episodes already made. I'd just like to have some amount of your Chris chan work on home video. It sucks this happened but it just shows how vast your series truly is. I'm pretty excited for the new episodes in a couple of years though, that'll be pretty interesting.

Will these remastered parts be put onto Spotify as well or just YouTube?

Wouldn't this mean that no 3 hour+ movies could be on blu ray? Sorry but I don't get it, I've watched plenty of Criterion disks that run for longer than 3+ hours. Fanny and Alexander is 312 minutes long (5 hours) and has no problems whatsoever. Why not just do whatever Criterion did?

Can't you just sell the thing on a custom SSD like Native Instruments does with Komplete Collector's Edition instead?
I'll start off by saying that im talking out my ass and barely know how disc burning works. But i just wanna ask if youve looked into burning the episodes onto an ultra hd bluray? From the admittedly little reaearch i did they should be able to hold way more hours of 1080p footage. Again im mostly talking out of my ass but i want to bring it up in the off chance that you didnt consider it and it does work
