Today, I successfully defended my PhD thesis and am now 🎓Dr. Matsubara !!! Big thanks to my advisor, Prof. Marco Levorato, and @s_mandt for being part of my committee members!🙇‍♂️🙇‍♂️🙇‍♂️ The story of my PhD journey was pretty complex and too long to be posted here😂

Very disappointing At a GitHub repo, I showed discrepancies between their code and paper, claimed the BEST-PAPER-AWARDed🏆 work is NOT reproducible with the code, and requested update The author has never responded to the issue, but I just noticed that it was silently deleted🤯
🚨Intern Positions🚨 Our team in Amazon Alexa AI is hiring Applied Scientist Interns! If you have background in dialogue systems/information retrieval, send me a DM! It should also be a great research opportunity🤩 e.g., 2 of 2 my AS intern works were published (EMNLP & SIGIR)
One thing I really like about #ICLR is that their review data are open to everyone! 🥰 Same as last year, I collected #ICLR2024 review data, modifying my previous script for OpenReview APIv2 Here are the histograms based on 7,331 submissions Hope this helps!🙋

It's time for #NeurIPS2024 reviewer (re)assignments As an Area Chair, I saw undergrad reviewers are assigned to 6 papers Regardless of their willingness to review, I think it's too many for undergrads (and Master's students) to provide quality reviews. Maybe 0-2 papers at most
Hello world! Our son was born recently. He is so adorable🥰 I want to give my wife a huge credit He is definitely a life changer, and I'm very excited for our new endeavor with him 🚀

As an AC for #NeurIPS2024, I requested further clarifications from reviewers when they say something like "I checked the rebuttal. This paper still needs more work / doesn't meet <venue name>'s bar. I will keep my score." Such comments won't help authors or ACs either
Last month, I joined Search and Recommendation Science team at as a Research Scientist🚀 Our team is hiring another Research Scientist🚀🚀 Send me a DM if you have strong research background in deep learning and NLP and want to be considered for the position🙋🙋🙋
「torchdistill - コーディング不要なディープラーニングフレームワーク -」をこれから #技育展 のAI・機械学習・データ分析部門で発表します 発表後の完走・質問などもこちらや技育展のSlackでお待ちしています! コード💻: github.com/yoshitomo-mats 論文📄:
Some people asked me to make plots for #ICLR2025 Here are some stats of the reviews Disclaimer: I am not serving for ICLR 2025. The numbers keep changing

Honored to be selected as a top contributor of 🎉 Thank you Papers with Code team for the recognition and this cool package 🥳 I'll keep contributing to this community by publishing papers with code and ML OSS for & lowering barriers to reproducible studies💪
I screwed up There are four ongoing tasks that I didn't initially notice would happen simultaneously: ICCV Technical Chair, ICML Area Chair, TMLR Action Editor, and IJCAI Special Track reviewer Devoting night and weekend, I feel I need a better planning for this type of work
torchdistill now supports Hub in registry to enable you to import models via hub by editing a yaml config for a knowledge distillation experiment ⚗️ e.g., You can use MobileNetV3 by as a teacher/student by editing a sample config (1st, resnet152) like 2nd/3rd

Now I'm more confident that the author or their group deleted the issue To be honest, I have a mixed feeling now and am thinking whether or not I should disclose the paper title It may save time and papers in review, and the community (reviewers) may be aware of the case [3/n]

I said "it was silently deleted" because it was unclear who deleted the issue The issue was created by another user before me and claimed the repo is incomplete, and I left my detailed comment there Having contacted the user, I confirmed that they did NOT delete the issue [2/n]
