Are you getting the Brax open_slate Linux tablet?: >MediaTek Genio 720 CPU and Mali-G57 MC2 GPU paired with either 8 GB or 16 GB of LPDDR4X and 5X RAM respectively, as well as either 128 GB or 256 GB of storage. >The tablet should ship with a 12-inch 1600 x 2400 Gorilla Glass IPS touch-screen with stylus support and 4096 pressure levels. Radios include Wi-Fi 6E, GPS and Bluetooth 5.3, as well as hardware privacy switches. 5G support has yet to be confirmed, but is likely to be provided through an external module, and there are a range of accessories promised, including folio cases and keyboards. >Like the Brax3 before it, the Open_Slate differentiates itself by supporting multiple operating systems, including Ubuntu, Ubuntu Touch, Debian, iodeOS, Lineage OS, and the company's own BraxOS. >The Open_Slate should be equipped with a range of IO, including 2x USB Type-C, with one supporting Display Port 1.4. >The addition of a PCIe Gen 2 M.2 socket should open the door to a range of fast storage options (in addition to the Micro SD slot), enabling easy dual-boot support. A user-replaceable battery highlights a focus on sustainability and right-to-repair, at least as long as parts remain available for purchase. https://www.notebookcheck.net/Brax-Open_Slate-offers-an-open-source-Ubuntu-and-Android-tablet-with-M-2-SSD-support.1213236.0.html

How to eavesdrop on portable air conditioner wifi data: I just bought a portable a/c. It has wifi functionality so I can set a timer on it and control it from an app. i have an openwrt gl.inet router, and a spare laptop that can only run windows 10, is there a way to monitor what this portable a/c is doing through something like wireshark? I just want to track how much GB of data it's using to see if it's doing anything shady like becoming part of a Chinese vpn botnet. Any ideas on how I would go about not only isolating this portable a/c to a very limited wifi network, but also monitoring the traffic it's sending back to the chinese servers? Pic unrelated. It doesn't use alexa or google home, just some chinese android app.

I want a nice screen, a battery that isn't garbage, and an operating system that's not Windows. All I'll end up doing with it is watching Jellyfin, streaming games over Moonlight, and watching porn so honestly I don't see a much better option at the price point. Where's the catch bros, make me hate Apple again

FriendNet - Soulseek but for friends: Over the past month or two, I've been working full-time on a P2P filesharing system call FriendNet, aimed at small- to medium-sized groups. FriendNet is self-hostable, open source file sharing for friends, like a mini-Soulseek. Unlike Soulseek and other P2P networks, port forwarding is optional! <You can host a private room for your friends or group to share folders on their computers, create profiles, and search files. >For those familiar with BitTorrent, hosting your own FriendNet server can be compared to owning a private tracker. Website: friendnet.org I just completed the very first version last night, but more features like a resumable download manager (like soulseek has) and simple private messages are forthcoming. The server and client are written in Go with no libc dependency, meaning that the executables are incredibly portable and will run on just about anything. The client uses a web UI, which while not ideal for some, is done for pragmatic reasons. Using a web UI prevents the need for more external linking dependencies and makes it possible to run the client headless on a server and remote control it. All client and server interfaces are based on gRPC, making them easy to automate with scripts. Let me know what you guys think.

Has Battery Technology Reached Its Peak?: >China's BYD announced it's coming out with Blade Battery 2.0 in March >immediately its 5 flagship models will get it >by the end of 2026, 70% of their new refreshed models will have Blade Battery 2.0 >40% energy density (210 Wh/kg vs. 150 Wh/kg) >60-70% range increase (1000km vs. 600km maximum) >12 minute charge from 20-80% at -20°C (impossible without warming with 1.0) >6-7 times faster charge (5 minutes vs 33 minutes from 20-80%) >33%+ cycle increase (>4000 vs ~3000) >15% cheaper to produce (further price decrease for every model) Has non-solid state battery technology reached its theoretical peak? Where we do go from here? I don't see how regular liquid batteries can get any better than this. How could you go faster than nearly a full charge within 5 minutes?

Firefox just announced that they are extending Windows 7 support yet again. Despite originally pledging to drop support in 2024 they have now announced yet another 6 month extension and will probably extend after that to 2027 or even match Windows 10 LTSCs support timeline. This gives Windows 7 users an unprecedented 7 years post EOL support. Despite being only 0.7% of Windows users they comprise 5% of Firefox users which are now becoming very lucrative to Mozilla as Windows 7 users are captive to Firefox as they are the only mainstream browser left in town. Despite recommending Linux upgrades it looks like RAM price increases have prevented people from buying new computers forcing them to keep using their ewaste Windows 7 computers and using Firefox. It will be very interesting to see how long the can will be kicked, will we see Windows 7 users in the 2030s?

Honest thoughts on Xbox Project Helix? Microsoft and Sony have tapped AMD to deliver their next-gen hardware. The CPU technology is based on the latest Zen 6 architecture, while the graphics side of the equation taps into the upcoming RDNA 5. In both areas, Microsoft is said to have more hardware, along with a wider memory interface - 192-bit vs Sony's 160-bit bus. There are also differences in processors. Project Helix is credited with three high-performance Zen 6 cores and eight energy-efficient Zen 6c cores. PS6, according to rumors, will mainly use Zen 6c cores and additional low-power blocks. Differences are also noticeable in graphics. Xbox may receive up to 68 RDNA 5 compute units, while PS6 will receive about 54.

I'm one of the world's leading expert on home servers, self-hosting, and digital sovereignty. The concept I work with: everyone has a machine. That machine goes out and gets what counts as the internet for you, then you log into that machine and experience the internet through it, and through it alone. You don't connect to a public device; you connect to your private device, and your private device is tuned into a bunch of public things. Your main public-private machine doesn't move. But you do. Ask me anything.

/dmp/ - Digital Music Production: >/g/ makes a 19th album Theme: Intelligent Drum And Bass Title: [Accepting suggestions] Deadline: 31st of March, 20:00 GMT >/g/ makes a 20th album Theme: [Accepting suggestions] >Song submission rules/guidelines Upload the file somewhere, preferably in a lossless format, and post the link here. If you want to update your track, make a new post. Include the song title in the post, and make it clear that your song is a submission for the album. You must include a screenshot of your DAW - this is to verify the track is not stolen or AI-generated. Optionally you may include cover art for your track, but please confirm that the image in your post is the cover art or it won't be included. You may also add a pseudonym to be included in the track metadata, but it must not be one you already use on music platforms. Songs that violate YouTube's policies won't be uploaded there, but they will still be added to the album. By default, tracks will be normalised to -14 LUFS (integrated loudness) in the release. You may specify a lower loudness for your song. Light-touch mastering is sometimes applied to improve the consistency between tracks. Use of AI is banned - This includes AI generated stems, samples, and effects. "AI" includes all neural network-based models and not hard-coded automation/procedural generation. You are allowed to ask an LLM about music-related questions, but asking it to give you musical ideas (eg. generating a chord progression) is prohibited. We rely on trust. >Where can I hear the previous albums? https://dmpproductions.org/albums/ https://www.youtube.com/@MusicOf4chan https://www.youtube.com/@anon7625 >Where can I learn about music production? https://dmpdoc.neocities.org/ https://mu-sic-production.fandom.com/wiki//mu/sic_Production_Wiki Previous: >>108262404
