About This Game

Daedalic Entertainment, once called “Lucasarts from Germany“ by the GameStar magazine, invites the players into a fantastic comedy adventure that revolves around a crazy love story of Rufus and Goal.

In Deponia, the world has degenerated into a vast garbage dump, in which the crotchety Rufus ekes out his sorry existence. He is part of the lowest social class, doomed to live his life in literal mountains of trash. He hopes for an opportunity to get into the world of the rich, who live in a floating city high above the clouds. Fate seems to smile on the snotty good-for-nothing when one day the attractive lady named Goal from the higher sector plummets into one of the trash heaps. Rufus decides to help the young woman out by taking her back to her husband. When he notices that Goal's husband is a dead ringer for himself, he hatches a diabolical scheme to gain access to the upper world. However, things don't work out quite as planned, since he has feelings for the beauty which limits his usual unscrupulousness.

Help Rufus, the poor boy from the junkyard, to win over the girl from heaven. Only with this rich girl from his dreams he might be able to escape Deponia and, unexpectedly, to save the planet.

A hilarious, charming, and chaotic point-and-click adventure with gorgeous hand-drawn visuals. Rufus is an unforgettable, egotistical mess, and the puzzles are creative, fitting the unique junk-planet setting. If you love classic adventure games and quirky humor, this is a must-play. A trash-tastic masterpiece! 9/10.

Why you should or should not play Deponia

What is Deponia?
Deponia is a point and click puzzle game where you play as Rufus who's just trying to get out of all this junk!

Quick Pros
✔ Interesting story
✔ Memorable characters
✔ Good world building
✔ Well written dialogue
✔ Satisfying progression system
✔ Unique mechanics
✔ Easy to learn controls

Quick Cons
✘ Sometimes there is no clear direction on what to do, however this is a puzzle game and that is its purpose is to make you think.

Initial Thoughts:
-"I like this tutorial, its very interactive."
-"Rufus is such spirit animal vibes."
-"STOP NOT THE SCREWS."

Beginner Player Friendly?
I would argue this game is very beginner player friendly, they have a clear tutorial that is easy to understand and the game play is very straightforward other then maybe the occasional complex puzzle.

Game Play:
The game play is all about searching your environment and finding, combining and solving the small puzzles around to help you progress through the story.

Graphics:
The graphics honestly remind me of cartoon games from when I was a kid and I am living for it. It's refreshing and looks animated by being hand drawn. I honestly love the looks of this game and I think that it would be able to run on lower end systems.

Community:
From what I have seen there are so many guides and tutorials on how to play and if you get stuck on puzzles. For the most part everyone seems super friendly!!

How long can you play?
This game has hours of content and the story is very rich and exciting.

My Opinion:
In my opinion this game is honestly so full of character it makes it super enjoyable and exciting at every turn. The puzzles keep it interesting and I think if you are looking for a story rich puzzle game maybe you should give this game a try.

Overall Review
★ 8/10 - Story rich puzzle game where your first objective is to find some socks.

Active Online Multiplayer (meaning people will interact with you in game)
Family Friendly (meaning friendly to all ages)
Solo Playability (meaning you can play by yourself if preferred) Cross Compatibility (meaning you can play with friends through other consoles.) In-App Purchases (meaning you can buy things after buying the game i.e DLC's) Controller Compatible (meaning you can play this game with a controller)

Deponia is a delightfully scrappy trash‑heap adventure starring a protagonist who probably shouldn’t be trusted with anything sharper than a crayon, yet somehow ends up steering the whole plot anyway. The humor hits more often than it misses, the world is charmingly chaotic and the puzzles feel like they were brainstormed during a caffeine‑fueled office meltdown. Still, there’s something oddly lovable about rummaging through this junkyard of jokes, junk and joyful nonsense.
[7.5/10]

I bought the game from bundle. Though not the best puzzle game, the world setting is interesting. However, you may find the protagonist annoying if you have no sense of humor.

Got stuck at the detonation plan, apparently that's a known bug since release. I have no other save so the only solutions would be to either restart the game or download a premade save from the devs' website. Unfortunately the game is not interesting enough: while the drawings are gorgeous the uninteresting plot, combined with an unlikable protagonist and an excessive amount of "jokes", won't pay that effort.

This game is a good example why the quest genre died. It looks ok at first - cartoonish graphics, backrgound music, voiceover, but the puzzle logic is made for imbeciles.

1. You need a pair of matching socks. You have 3 of them - blue, yellow and green ones, plus the bottle with detergent What should you do? Of course try to cross-color. For example, blue+green socks will make two turquoise ones. Most obvious, mix yellow and blue socks together and make two green ones, right? No. You need to put all three socks into the detergent and make TWO green ones. What's happened? Where is the third sock? Why do you need the green color as soon as you already have the yellow/blue mix? Nobody knows.

2. You have the oven and need to boil some liquid in the pot, just find the fuel, something to burn and give enough heat to boil a 1.5-2 liter pot. Solution - use 4 (four) sticky notes. I'm not kidding - all four pieces of paper will burn intensively and do the job.

Verdict.: the game made by kids for kids. But don't give it to your children, they will grow stupid.

Genuinely fantastic game, loved playing this when i was a little fella

Literally the only thing that hasnt aged well is the depiction of one character - if you've played the game, you know who. But still it was 2012 and the future games made her less of a joke character

A good, mind-blowing quest.
Excellent dialogue and a decent plot complement the game's trashy vibes well, and it's trashy in every sense of the word.
